I am testing our Jitsi Meet more and more these days. call.trom.tf/ :) - I have removed the YouTube integration today, since YouTube is trade-based. I have to try and do a long call with a bunch of people from around the world :P. To see how it handles it. This week I was and still am a bit distracted with some other things, but starting next week I want to beat myself into submission to work on TROM II like a maniac and finish it in a few months time...so that I can then focus on other things like new books, a new kind of life perhaps, new projects and so forth....rebooting tromcast and more.

Will see... #tromlive

A new TROMjaro ISO is out forum.tromjaro.com/t/tromjaro-…

Not that many changes. That's how I like it! :)
The main change is that we moved to the newest Kernel LTS 5.15.
Enjoy! #tromlive

Did some good work for TROM II these past 2 days. Next days I'll be a bit busy with some other things but will continue. I plan to release a new TROMjaro ISO in a week or two and move it to the next kernel LTS 5.15. Should not be an issue for any current users. Easy to upgrade. We may add a fix for the flatpaks to force them respect the system's theme, plus a few new changes. Very minor. Tha'ts how I like TROMjaro, to not add many changes with every ISO release. Keep it simple, functional, and stable. #tromlive

Flatpaks + Adwaita....such a mess

Look at this:

Is this Windows you ask? No. It is Linux. These are 4 video players. All of them installed from flathub. They are flatpaks. Top left seems to be using a Plasma design/theme. Even the font is from that universe. Right top uses the Elementary OS design. Bottom left is the "awesome" new libadwaita pushed by Gnome. Finally, bottom right corner uses the system's theme after we hacked flatpaks to do just that.

So even with the hack we are trying, it only works for some flatpaks.

I don't like what's happening on the linux desktop... #tromlive

We are working on something that will make all (or at least most) flatpaks respect the system's theme. It is unbelievable that we have to do these. The people behind these projects should understand that respecting the system's preferences is a must, else we end up with apps that have a different position of window buttons, or different number or ordering of them; a different theme, and different functionalities of the window itself.

We want TROMjaro to be functional and sane. If you install an app from AUR, or repos, or flathub, they should bloody respect your system's preferences. But it is difficult and maybe not sustainable to keep on hacking these things....

It is beyond me why the people from gnome or flathub do not consider much the usability of these apps. Or only consider that in a very narrow environment, that of flatpaks or gnome. But how about Linux as a whole? ....

If NFTs Were Honest | Honest Ads ytb.trom.tf/watch?v=sG_v4bb2e4…

I'll have to say it again. If you consider NFTs as beyond idiotic, you are right, they are. But so is any digital stuff that's behind paywalls or restricted or sold. Music, videos, games, you name it. 0 and 1 that can be endlessly replicated, can only be forced to be scarced, else they would be abundant.

I see some activity for github.com/YunoHost-Apps/jitsi… via @YunoHost . If they can add Jitsi I'll be so happy to provide a trade-free instance via trom.tf! #tromlive

The beauty of TROMjaro: I see this article about a cool new app - System Monitoring Center. Now I open the Add/Remove Software and search for it:

It is there. I click install, apply, insert the password. And done. Installed in less than a minute. And it also respects TROMjaro's themes and all that:

It is beyond me why aren't most Linux distros like this. A single software center (no more download deb or rpm's like windows users from random websites) + QT and GTK themes syncing so that your desktop looks neat and consistent.

Don't give the wrong impression to new users that Linux needs to make use of the terminal and so forth. People want a click and install workflow. :P

Wait until libadwaita kicks in and starts breaking everyone's themes, that's a real pain in the ass.

I hope someone find a way around these issues, linux users are usually into customization so they might find a solution.

I personally don't care that much about theming, I use a window manager and I just want things to work, that's all. But I still want apps to respect my dark mode though......

I had to cancel my Mega account. It simply did not work...I have way too many files. Millions of files, 8-9TB of them, constantly changing. And the Megasync client could not handle it. I had to contact the New Zealand consumer protection to kinda force Mega to fully refund me. I am waiting for the full refund these days.

Then I will use the entire amount to find a way to backup all of the files in the cloud. Will update about the situation. Mega seem great since it is encrypted and all that, but well...it did not work and their technical support could not fix the issue so what can I do? Pay for online backups when their client breaks every single day and I have ti kill it from processes some 5 times every day to be able to sync some stuff. And if I skip 1 day of this, it would take ages to sync and freeze even more.

So yah....I will look at Borg as a solution to sync Yunohost from one server to another, and then maybe buy another Mega account that's much cheaper to backup my computer files since they are not in the millions.

Will see. #tromlive
