Youtube channels like MrBeast and his "philanthropy" are a sign of a failed society from all perspectives. Sure, he at times helps some people, but the way it is done is a sort of a freak show. Get those views, be shocking, extreme, wasteful, clickbaity. Inject ads, promote bullshit, and mix it all up with mostly retarded videos.
Let's give money to people by making them do retarded and dangerous and uncomfortable things, and film them. Let's help others by making videos about their suffering and getting tons of money from ads. Perverse.
Anyway, I wanted to briefly rant about this utter disgrace.
I want to boost this but I'm hesitant to because of how explosively a lot of leftists react to the r word 😅 I agree with everything else completely though, of course
@futureisfoss because that's the neo-leftist model "we don't care if you actually fight for progressive causes, just that you use the popularly accepted nomenclature at all times." @tio
Yeah, i got mixed feeling about him. Of course his videos are made in are quite retarded and dumb manner. On the other hand he at least helps someone. Compare to 99% of others in similar to him position. But the way his business model based on poor people is really perverse :( Yet he is hero to many, bcs he helps others. But would he helped others if it wouldn't be possible to earn a lot of money from that ? That the question. In any case the whole situation is fucked up.
Musk, Bezos, Gates and others help poor people too at times. But this doesn't feel right to me, to profit so much on one hand and promote complete BS, and destroy and all that, while you help a little here and there. And it gives people the wrong impression about these acts - like "Wow look these youtubers and billionaires are solving many problems quicker and better than governments or other nonprofits". Just because these celebrities are very loud.
So I'd say it is great that the guy helps some people, and despicable that it has to be transformed into a "show", littered with ads and other retarded content. Not entirely his fault, since that's how this society "works".
There is this massive myth on a global scale, almost like a huge conspiracy, that humans are predisposed to being like this or like that. Predisposed to becoming depressed, ADHD is an illness, sexual orientation is inborn, violence can be detected in one's brain, and so forth.
This notion that humans have a certain biology and their behavior is based on that.
False.
From sexuality to mental disorders, violence or anything else. There are no genes, no chemicals, nothing biological that can predict any such behaviors. None.
We should start to abolish this mentality. This approach is succulently pushed by companies who sell the "miracle" drugs, and everyone is hypnotized by the cattle-society practice: treat humans like they are on a conveyor belt. Feel angry, sad, and all that? Well probably you have a "disease". Take this pill! Bye!
Anyway. Here is a recent publication by Joanna Moncrieff that debunks the myth of the "chemical imbalance" of depression. And here a more general overview of how depression cannot be linked to any bio-chemical marker.
Some very important quotes from this group of proper scientists that have the dignity and courage to remain scientists:
I have shown that family, twin, adoption, and molecular genetic studies have failed to provide scientifically valid evidence that genes play a role in causing depression. Combined with the recent findings by Moncrieff and colleagues that serotonin is not associated with depression, the idea of MD as a medical condition is in serious trouble.
To understand the true causes of depression, we must focus on family (including abuse and trauma), social, and political environments, including racial, gender, class, and other types of oppression/discrimination. We must address people’s increasing social isolation and disconnection from each other, lack of meaning and purpose, consumerism, and fears of present or future calamities such as pandemics, climate change, and nuclear war. The idea of depression as a medical/genetic condition must be reevaluated, and non-medical prevention and intervention strategies should be promoted.
And
“suffering as being rooted in individual rather than social causes, leading individuals to think that it is them rather than the economic and social system in which they live that is at fault and in need of reform.
It is this trade-based society that makes humans sad, depressed, angry, demotivated and so forth. FIX SOCIETY!
American's have been lied to about so much. And everybody lies to us. Now we find that we never could trust the pharmaceutical companies. Thank God for computers. Had it not been for them we never would have recognized that the USA is as good an example of a third world country as any other.
My mobile phone is 7 years old, but works just fine. 2k screen, waterproof, whateverthefuck. My electric scooter is 8 years old. 1000W, range just about 12KM. But works fine. I may change the battery to double/triple the range. I have a 10 year old Windows tablet with TROMjaro. Works great. My headphones are some 4 years old. My laptop probably 6 years old!?
While I was watching some random videos about electric scooters (to fix something on my own), and realizing that they have become a thing now, I saw many people referring to 2-3 years old scooters as OLD and "of course is OLD so it does not work anymore". I saw that with phones too....nowadays a 3 year old phone seems ancient.
This is bullshit and it is a consequence of the trade system we live under, where "new" models, most of the time almost identical with previous ones, have to be released. Combine that with planned and perceived obsolescence and you got yourself the perfect waste-system.
So yeah...I think the newest gadget in my room is a few years old. We should not have to replace our stuff every year

If you come a day later to work, your "boss" will be really angry and may fire you. If your "boss" pays you a day later, is all fine. #TradeRuinsEverything #tromlive
This one is not a direct consequence of trading itself, the problem here is that contracts do mention the days you have to work, but not the day you will get paid.
I wish you were right. But you are not. There are countless of examples that I personally know, where it states in the contract when you have to be paid, and they were not. So often it is tiring. And it is a consequence of trade since it makes humans prioritize their own selves, so those "bosses" do not care much about their "slaves".
Also, in the contract it is mentioned you need to work only 8h a day, but many times you work more than that.
All of these agreements, written or verbal, will never be respected simply because the trade relationship between the "boss" and the "worker" is imbalanced towards the "boss" who has a lot more power.
And stuff like this is why I'm so thankful for working in a team and having a union. My team covers in case of emergency leave and my union makes sure they paycheck isn't late
That's good. I wonder tho how wide-spread and overall efficient these "unions" are. On top of that, it is quite concerning that we need them in the first place, it says a lot about the abuse of power in a trade society.

Yeah watch this documentary....what we are talking about for years now, how trade fucks things up. It is not just about money, money is just a form of trade. Likes, shares, comments, can be traded for products. #TradeRuinsEverything
Kids nowadays are growing up in an even more fucked up society. We are FoCkEd. #tromlive
Fake Famous is a 2021 documentary film directed by Nick Bilton. It is a social experiment involving three non-famous people who attempt to become social media influencers by “faking” fame.

I cannot trust any company. Period. It is like trusting Coca-Cola to do research on the effects of sugar on health. Any company is entangled with whatever they are selling. This entanglement is too strong. Even if there are any companies that seem to be more fair, in the long term they will fuck things up. I've seen this countless of times. Also, overall looking at the entire world-wide society, even if you may get a few more "fair" companies, overall most are corrupted and fucked up.
So yeah, companies should not even exist in a saner society. We should have organizations that do things. Plant trees, make computers, software, whatever. Like we showcase here. But no trade involved.

This is a show from a few days ago from the little town I live in:
It used to be this:
So messy.
Great! It seems that the world is starting to replace fireworks shows with drone shows. No more noise pollution, smoke, waste from the burned fireworks, and so forth. Sounds much much better!
Here's a more advanced and cool example:
But I am concerned they will use them to also display some ads, like brands and promote shit...
Oh wait, they already do it!
FUCK.
Above Sydney so that everyone can see them...and loud music....so still noise pollution. What about those batteries and components for these thousands of drones that are used for such shows? Where do they go after not working anymore? Probably land-fields...
Ok ok....I know, nothing can end up well in a trade-based society. Everything gets traded, and thus marketed. Nothing is what it seems. A drone show is not just a drone show, it is an opportunity to advertise. A book is not just a book, it is an opportunity for the author to buy a new car. A piece of software is not just a piece of software, it is a way for the developer/company to collect more data, to then transform that into currency, to then transform that into holidays, houses, and fancy shit and so on for themselves.
This is the most fundamental thing that everyone should understand about our society, that we are forced and incentivized to trade. Very few people can afford to, or are willing to do things for the sake of doing things. And of course this creates a very messed-up society when you do something in order to get something else. We did that in school where the goal was to get good grades to pass the exams. Most kinds would cheat, not learn anything, because the goal was not to learn. And so it goes for our society...the goal is not to write books, do drone shows to protect the nature, create a PDF converter or whatever. Nah....
So we should not be surprised that everything goes to shit. Pollution, waste, bad products, scammy services....
On a positive note, I'm happy they're getting rid of fireworks, I hated the loud noise, the smoke and everything. I've never seen a drone show before, so it'd be nice to see that one day.
But yeah I knew trade would get in the way, #TradeRuinsEverything - this is why we can't have nice things. So does this mean I have to watch ads in the f**king sky now ?! Why is no one talking about this ?
