People migrate due to economic reasons mainly, they work for less, do not speak the local language in many cases, do not care about the local culture, they just want to make a buck. Others come in for holidaying, to consume the tribe. Some locals take advantage of them, abuse the migrants at times, make money off of tourists, then complain about them, and so forth.
They start to blame each other and in the process the visual and cultural differences are easy targets: those Mexicans stealing our jobs, those dirty Gypsies, those stupid brown people, the Romanian thieves, the arrogant British tourists!

What is clear is that if people were to have a decent life, the Catalans, the Gypsies, the Mexicans, the Romanians and the rest, then there will be a lot less people migrating and “stealing” the locals’ jobs or committing crimes, and thus less of this forced mixing of cultures. Less consumerism, and thus less tourism, less short term rentals. And if people were not to be workers for most of the year, then them holidaying could be more spread-out through the year, not creating the insane tsunami of tourists in July-August in all of Spain, and probably all over the world.
In essence, it is not the fault of the Catalans, or the immigrants, or my fault, or anyone’s fault. It is this society that transforms us into consuming working idiots who then mix and clash with each other.

in reply to Tio • • •I think syncing photos is different because it's new files, compared to when a file's content changes. But yeah could be a phone issue but unlikely since it wasn't syncing even after I opened the app and did a refresh, and also keep in mind that syncthing works fine running in the background.
