We were able to finally move our entire TROM.tf to a new server. Some 2-3TB of data.
Old server: i7-6700 CPU @ 3.40GHz, 8 cores, 32GB RAM, 2 x 1.8TB SSD. 46 Euros a month. New one, same CPU but 1 x 1TB SSD + 2 x4TB HDD. 54 Euros a month.
We are using the HDDs as one, around 7.5TB of storage in total, for storing the data for Peertube and Nextcloud. This allows us to expand the storage for these ones 2-3 times more than on the previous server. Retrieving data from HDDs in this case is totally fine and we see no slow down of these services.
Thanks to that we enabled one more resolution, 480p, for our Peertube instance. 3 in total now. Will only be available for the newly uploaded videos.
We also have a new IP so emails can reach Gmail from our server, finally...but we have disabled "import with URL" for our Peertube to protect this IP from getting banned.
Overall it was a very difficult process to move to the new server and our TROM Git still cannot be restored....we need to fix

September Updates : It's been quiet I was editing feature documentary and now will start editing Albania project about sharks by-catch. Because of the bad weather all the time I had to cancel 2nd trip there. Also Mara's back was injured so we have to stay at home, but now she is doing much better and recovering, so everything will be fine with her.
Next week we are going to Warsaw Poland, Mara will be doing vocal workshops there, and I will join some local clean up actions because next weekend is a World Clean Up Day! Then week after we are going to Croatia I am trying to arrange a project there with cat sharks, we have to scuba dive to deep places and monitor shark eggs. But I am not sure if it's going to happen, but we are going to Croatia anyway, if not this project I will try to join some other. That's the plan for September.
From 14th to 18th of September we will try to migrate our Peertube to another server. One drive is failing on this server plus our IP is banned by Google, so we are attempting to solve more issues at once. Please try not to upload anything new on Peertube between these dates!

Crazy situation with you father Tio. I didn't expect it to be so dramatic. Not sure what to say. It doesn't look that he could be completely cured or get much better. Thanks Dima. We will see for now is nothing much we can do but take care of each other, try to have some nice time, keep him more mentally engaged. Truth is he is not diagnosed with dementia or anything like that. But he has these brain holes and for sure his behaviour worried us for the past years a lot. Also idk about his heart issues but we are very careful and try to take care of this situation.
So idk...we will see....I dont want to stress myself or us too much over things we cant do much about, if possible.

But in all seriousness let me tell you that I can totally relate with that feeling of darkness and depression when being exposed to people's "normality" like you say. I usually try to ignore these things for the most part and it's not very often I go out to interact with people, but sometimes you get confronted with that reality and it can push me into that depressive state when that happens.... It's a totally different experience when you're having to watch movies to escape the reality like that, this is not like watching something you enjoy for fun once in a while but for you the goal is to escape - yeah terrible feeling I know......

I can see maybe the things you miss from being in a more "developed" country like better healthcare and education, but I think the above statement is true for most people on a global scale. And now about your father... I knew about the fainting and his hospitalization and all that 'cause you've told me before, but I did not realize how nerve wracking that experience must've been for you until I read this blog post. What you went through on that airplane is a literal nightmare scenario, and then the Uber drive and everything - man I don't know how I would've handled it if something like that happens to me, I might get a panic attack or something lol 😅 Anyway, I'm glad that you were able to get him to a hospital safe, let's hope there won't be any more serious issues like this in the future.....
It's an incredibly sad thing to watch your parents age out like this, I feel so sad every time I think about how much healthier they used to be and how they will continue to age as time goes on.... And yeah dementia is a real bitch man, I hope we make some progress in the science of how to treat this disease or prevent it from happening.
And I'm glad to hear that after going through all of these stressful experiences you were finally able to get back to your motorhome and get some sleep for yourself. And don't worry man we will for sure reboot TROM back to life! 🙂 You are not alone in this fight 😉

Yes I totally understand this, I feel like most of the "highest grossing" movies are just made using the same formula again and again - it is kinda like the junk food of content, you won't see actual creativity or get any insight from such films. But I don't consider "highest grossing" as a good criteria for picking movies to watch, actual good films tend to engage your mind more - makes you think or feel something so deeply, sometimes change your perspective about something. But yeah such movies don't give you that escape from reality, so if people want to turn off their mind they watch these formula movies - this is the saddest part to me, the fact that people are so tired and stressed out from work and everything that they often feel like they need an escape.....

Absolutely the BBC has sided with Israel at every opportunity. Just the other week they were unquestioningly parroting the Dinah project bullshit. Every IDF claim is elevated and promoted while any casualties are minimised as coming from the “Hamas run” health ministry. For the last 2 years journalists have been leaking about the pro Israel editorial bias, and we saw what happened with them refusing to release their own documentary on the destruction of the Gaza health system.
Wait...can you send me some links? Because I see an entirely different picture. Maybe you can say they do not criticize Israel enough but on their front page every other day I see news about how awful Israel is and how much destruction they cause in Gaza.

Regardless of who is right, you have to detach from bias. And if the narrator of the documentary is the son of a Hamas leader, this may be a sign of bias.

The source is "Promoting Fair And Responsible Reporting Of Muslims And Islam" - I struggle to accept that it is unbiased. If it was an independent organization with no ties to any groups of people or any particular agenda, I would have looked more into it.
So if the BBC did indeed share Israeli perspectives 11 times more frequently than Palestinian perspectives and devote significantly more attention and sympathetic language to Israeli casualties than Palestinian ones, would that not contradict your assertion that the BBC hasn’t taken Israel’s side?
The interpretation of the language can be subjective no? Depends on the event in question. But if this was true, then yes I would say BBC would be biased towards Israel. However I have seen BBC reporting on their main page about the horror situation in Gaza and the terrible actions of Israel, multiple times.
Because, as I said at the start, sometimes even vultures gag. The remarkable thing is the genocide has become so horrific that the BBC is limited in their ability to minimise, justify or ignore the horrors. They will still try of course. But you are seeing reporting on Israel’s crimes not because the BBC has some commitment to truth or justice, but because the scale of the atrocity is so great that they have to publish something.

You see, this attitude is what fuels a lot of destruction in our world.

You are not very good at communicating unfortunately. Something bothers you a lot I see. But beyond your anger there is the truth that we are all humans, regardless of what you believe in. And we should keep on saying this until we understand it.
No more jews, christians, americans, or other nonsense. This is a basic start of a more intelligent mindset.
We should really try not to kill each other, I think that would be a reasonable goal. But if you have these groups of people, that fight with other groups, for all sorts of reasons, then this breeds anger, destruction, killings.

I would rather fail to reach people on the Fediverse than on Youtube and Facebook. Even worse, on Tiktok.
