TROMfiles files.trom.tf provides as much storage space as iCloud, 5GB. But TROMfiles comes with a proper Office Suite at your disposal, easy to share files/folders, even the ability to create a drop-in upload folder for anyone who wants to upload files to your account; a whiteboard; livechat, file history, photo gallery, music player, file conversion and a lot more. And the collaboration on files is really amazing.

It is crazy to think that us, at TROM, can provide such a service that in terms of features rivals or is better than a service provided by a multi-billion-dollar-company. This is thanks to the Open Source world of software!

Unfortunately most people will not use such services because Apple locks them inside their walled garden, and humans are also too busy or ignorant to ever change anything in their life, even trivial things like hosting their files with a better and free service.

Some nice news. So we are moving our chats entirely to Matrix. Matrix is like Slack, Whatsapp, Signal, or any such messenger. But perhaps better. It is a proper messenger. Supports encrypted chats, text formatting, emoji (ofc), video/audio calls, you can group rooms into spaces, file-send support with preview, and more. We will soon add it to our trom.tf list of services and showcase it in detail. But the great part is that we have linked it to our old drive.tromsite.com chat, that is a Nextcloud Talk chat.

So we are giving up to the old Nextcloud chat and more to Matrix. But our public chatrooms are still functional. So we get the best of the two worlds.

Therefore tromsite.com/chat will not be closed. Also, our TROMjaro Support chat will not be closed.

We added our TROMtext back to TROM.tf text.trom.tf/ because it offers, we think, something more unique: a real time collaboration on text editing that's super fast. We've also added TROMpaste paste.trom.tf/ - this is a very simple tool used to very quickly share any piece of text.

If you memorize the URLs of some of our tools, then it is super easy to access them. Want to send files? SEND dot TROM dot TF. Because it is SEND, hosted by us (TROM), and it is Trade-Free (TF).

Wanna host your files? FILES.trom.tf. Get "social"? SOCIAL dot... VIDEOS dot .... OFFICE dot....and so on.

Actually all you have to do is memorize what you want to do :D. Send, File, Maps, Text, Paste, Memes, Videos, Diagrams, Poll, Search, Office, .... and add trom.tf.

We will shut down pass.trom.tf (vaultwarden) and text.trom.tf (etherpad). pass.trom.tf was added more like a test with a warning and only 2 users registered anyways. 1 of whom added 1 entry and the user was contacted to save its entry locally. This service takes more time to properly setup - for example to make sure it is secure, has a 2FA enabled, works with other clients, and more. We do not have the time right now to do all of this and we do not want to provide any service that is not very well tested and that works reliably.

Etherpad (text.trom.tf) is unnecessary when we already have office.trom.tf + files.trom.tf. Both are great office suites and office.trom.tf provides a super easy and fast to setup document editor. It is pointless to have Etherpad that brings nothing new or different from office.trom.tf.

We need useful services that are well setup and maintained, not a lot that are meh. #tromlive

TROM-Cast: Managing our Peertube, Space Exploitation, and some updates

TROM-Cast is coming back, at least for now. Live on 30st this month (30.07.2021). 11:00PM Madrid time (23:00).

We are going to discuss about our Peertube instance (videos.trom.tf) and how we've been forced to limit it and perhaps moderate it in the future; we talk about what happened and in general about conspiracy theorists (or crazy people) and what can be done about them.

We will talk a bit about what's happening around the project, but also about other things that happened lately: the space exploitation of billionaires, new trom.tf apps, and more.
