We Joined Rangers Protecting Armenia’s Wildlife

We went to ARPA Protected Landscape in Armenia. Where from village Areni we joined Arpa Rangers to monitor the area, check camera traps, count animals and do regular check of the territory.

We spent 3 nights in the Freezing Alps to Save Wolves - videos.trom.tf/w/bkKSrJpURHGnH…

We spent 3 nights in the Freezing Alps to Save Wolves

We volunteered to spent 3 nights and 4 days in Swiss mountains to protected flock of sheep from the wolf. Or actually to protect wolves. Because if wolves will attack sheep they will be hunted and killed. So we don't want that to happen, that's why we went to Switzerland to join OPPAL mission.

I posted this comment on the video itself but will paste it here in case you @Dima see it:

Very well made video Dima!

I did not understand the "solution" part. There was a guy who was planting a crop with all of the other plants, so no herbicides. But how can you harvest that on a big scale? Also how about invasive species when you dont control for that?

Also wouldnt it be better instead of 3D printing that thing for bees, with plastic, to use wood?

Great job overall!

Why 99% of Glass Eels are Gone and How We Can Save Them? - videos.trom.tf/w/rXaJVsRtHBJGE…

Yet another example of people doing a lot of hard work, for free, and for a good cause. Imagine if more could be involved to do such acts. We need to take care of people, in order for people to not destroy the environment, each other, and to have time to restore what was destroyed.

Help people, to help the world.

We Discovered Unseen Dolphin Species in Mediterranean Sea by @Dima videos.trom.tf/w/dgAGQ5nZkFHVM…

Every year DMAD organizes research surveys for cetaceans in Eastern Mediterranean sea. The main focus is the Sperm Whale but also any other mammals they could find. This year it was an incredible discovery of Rough Toothed dolphins, a species never seen in this waters before.

Bringing extinct species alive - Hortobagy National Park - videos.trom.tf/w/hWHgC7izkZzmu…

Hortobagy National Park have some incredible rewilding and conservation projects. Like bringing extinct animals like Auroch, or extincted int the wild Przewalski's horses. It's unique place in Hungary and they are doing so much to restore and protect the nature.

The problem is that once a species has disappeared, it's gone forever - you can't bring it back, rewilding lobby or not!

What do yo mean you cannot bring a species back? Aren't there plenty of such examples?

Hortobagy National Park has many other conservation concerns to (try to) deal with

Can you give me more info about that?

Also I'll tag @Dima in case he wants to reply.

@Dima
in reply to Tio

@tio @sober_pirate I don't think we're talking about the same thing.
When a species becomes extinct, well, that's the end of it. It's too late.
When a population of a species has disappeared, it's possible to reintroduce it, using individuals from elsewhere, on the express condition that the causes of its local disappearance have been eliminated.
The Auroch is an extinct species, although we're tinkering with backwards selection
@Tio @Dima

I see what you mean. I am unsure how they define an extinct species here - maybe they mean a species is extinct from a particular environment, or all natural environments, but still exists in captivity. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extinct_…

For sure I agree that if the causes of extinction are not dealt with, reintroducing it is probably not going to work.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aurochs I see what you mean.
