When some are associating crime with being a gypsie, Mexican, African, Pakistani, Romanian or whatever outsider, they do not understand that is not these labels that make these people commit crimes, is the environment of struggle, in the same way that Americans in America’s poor cities commit crimes, or Brits in the UK, or French in France. Some TROM Updates:

We likely fixed the Friendica crash and downtimes. For the past weeks our TROM Social could become so slow to load that it won't load anymore. We allocated more resources to the instance and so far seems to work great with no downtimes.

We fixed the issue with Peertube not sending emails to Gmail or other big email providers. When users made accounts with these email providers they wouldn't even get an email to confirm the account. Now it seems to work. And so is for our Friendica and Nextcloud instances that were suffering from the same plague.

We released a new TROMjaro yesterday - just updates.

Finally we are testing a Pixelfed instance. :) Another tool for our TROM.tf services!

In Catalonia they provide courses for “immigrants” to learn Catalan so they can integrate into the society. We know many Moroccans who take these courses, and sometimes they can even get benefits from taking them.

But then if you look at their Muslim culture it has nothing to do with the Catalan one. So what if they know Catalan? Does that mean they are vessels of the Catalan culture? Of course not.

Don’t get me wrong is good to help people integrate, if they so wish, but don’t regard it as if these people are bending to the culture, since it can be vice-versa and they can lead to the mutation of culture. From USA to Catalonia and everywhere else.

How many people celebrate the holy-days today in the same way that people celebrated them 50-100 years ago?

I know that for us, coming from a very religious tribe called Romania, Christmas was more about the Christmas tree, presents, food and Coca-Cola. Oh and watching Home Alone on repeat. Nothing to do with the original Christmas “holy” day. Or anything Romanian specific either.

And so it was the case for everyone I knew. And that’s one of the many “holy” days that today have become mostly about consuming.

The forces of our trade-based society with its marketing tentacles, are transforming the culture more than any dictators and philosophers do. That you should keep in mind.

I am quite happy that some of our roots in Europe, like those from the Ottoman empire, are long gone because I would not want to wear this fashionable-onion-hat.
