Carbon Offsets: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver ytb.trom.tf/watch?v=6p8zAbFKpW…

Trade trade, trade trade, trade trade....as long as we are compelled and trained to trade, that's our priority. Does not matter if it is a company or an individual. #TradeRuinsEverything #tromlive

@TROM
Thanks a lot for sharing that video, its very informative. I've heard before that these so called "Carbon Offsets" were a scam, but I didn't know they were this much harmful and outright ridiculous. I should've known, because how can you use trades to solve an issue that has been created by this trade based society in the first place!?

And all of these companies showing you ads saying "Zero carbon footprint", please don't fall for that BS. You can't "undo your emissions" by throwing money at it 🤦

@TROM awesome! Is it possible to 'upgrade' my two Manjaro PCs, e.g. by a TROMjaro migration script?

Alt text: The technology that exists today and the possibilities it presents are very exciting. It seems that we are highly capable of creating an efficient, clean energy, safe transportation system that every human on earth can benefit from. We have the resources and the technology needed to do so.

However, as long as we remain bounded by this for-profit, trade based system we will continue to see the problems that come
along with it.

Pretty much all distributions that I personally tested, and I tested a lot of them, fail to properly apply a system theme for most applications. Actually I know no one that does a great job.

Reading this article about libadwaita and how pity the arguments are in favor of using it. I was expecting more.

The normal Manjaro updates plus: We fixed some theming issues with the KDE/QT apps. Read more here. So please update your Theme Switcher code. Go to .local/share/bin/theme-switcher and open the file with a text editor.

We have removed out Bilbiogram instance from our TROM.tf suite of services. It is being discontinued teddit.net/r/privacy/comments/… plus it never really worked. Instagram is a devil-child of Facebook/Meta, and Facebook trades human minds (content, attention, time, etc.). Thus, Instagram is not happy to let such frontends like bibliogram run. It runs against their trading business. A battle Instagram will always win.

People should not use instagram. Use Pixelfed pixelfed.org/ - federated, trade-free. #tromlive

Still not sure why pixelfed isn't just a fe though.

Newly added to the Trade-Free Directory:

HAL (open archive)

HAL is an open archive where authors can deposit scholarly documents from all academic fields. It has a very good position in the international web repository ranking.

HAL is run by the Centre pour la communication scientifique directe, a French computing centre, which is part of the French National Centre for Scientific Research, CNRS. Other French institutions, such as INRIA, have joined the system. While it is primarily directed towards French academics, participation is not restricted to them.

The big trom.tf update seems to be fully done now. All of our services seem to work well. If you find any errors or anything "suspicious" let us know. Thank you Yunohost and thank you Debian! #tromlive

Surprisingly we were able to upgrade to the latest Debian and YNH, a big update, all of our TROMsite websites in less than an hour. No error, everything smooth. Yunohost is not a company but a project supported through donations. And they do a fabulous job! The real test is the trom.tf server with over 20 services....we may update it tomorrow! We will let you know. #tromlive

TROM Presentation at Atlantykron 2022 videos.trom.tf/w/rToaoUqGZATe2…

@Alexio gave a presentation at atlantykron.org and showcased the many tools that we have.

"The Atlantykron Project is a living experiment of education in nature. The academy brings together world leading experts, the latest learning tools and technologies, and youth from many countries. This combination of teaching, learning and living in a natural and wild environment creates an educational and life experience like no other. "

Unfortunately the presentation is only in the Romanian language. We have added subtitles in different languages but they are auto-translated so they are likely not that great. In any case, the important thing is that Alexio did the presentation. We need more Alexio's!

Anyone can present TROM everywhere they can. This helps us spread the core message of the project, that trade is the source of most problems. And to also showcase the many trade-free tools that we have.

Thank you Alexio!

BE AWARE: The next few days we will upgrade our tromsite.com server to the new Debian + Yunohost release. This is a once in a few years upgrade probably, so it may take a while. Our websites may not work. Here are the websites that will be affected:

- TROMjaro.com
- TROMnews.com
- TROMsite.com
- Directory.Trade-Free.org
- Social.TROMsite.com
- Trade-Free.org
- VideoNeat.com

From now on the registrations on social.trom.tf require manual approval. This is to prevent the bots from registering. Do not worry, we are still trade-free in all regards. Everyone will be approved, except bots, spams and scams of course. #tromlive

in reply to TROM

I remember they had enabled manual approval on venera.social too. Do you think maybe spam bots are a more widespread issue on Friendica?
in reply to Rokosun

Could be. Seems that they find a way to abuse these networks. It is really difficult...but at least with manual approval we can cut from the mess. I don't like it, but I also don't know what to do.
