DNA testing site 23andMe files for bankruptcy protection - bbc.com/news/articles/c9q4r9xy…

Of course...a bullshit company, like most companies, providing nothing useful for the people and now even putting their personal information (and DNA) at risk. Because you know, other company may buy it and who knows what it does with the data. I have been saying that since the beginning when everyone was so excited about this useless company.

To read the DNA for useful purposes should be the job of entities that do not make a business out of it, but take care of people´s health. This nonsense of "see where you ancestors are from" "see if you are fucking irish or a goblin", is so useless even if accurate, which may not even be.

Anyway, another story of nonsense companies that make people give them their data to then fuck up this information for everyone.

What We Leave Behind in TEL: The Silence Around Critical Pedagogy

In much of the UK's digital education research, there's a strong focus on scalability, platform integration, and institutional alignment.

What's often missing?

- Critical pedagogy
- Questions of power, justice, and values
- Grounded reflections on why we teach the way we do

In this blog post, I explore why those deeper questions are often absent -- and what we might do about it.

Read it here: elearning.home.nomagic.uk/0011…

I'd really welcome others' thoughts: are you seeing the same emphasis where you work?

I hope Felon47 is taking note of these crowds. If so, it has got to be eating away at him!

Me & Māra are doing a lot of nature & wildlife protection and conservation work, and need some financial support. This week we participated in 2 actions, the first one was dolphin research expedition in France, 2nd habitat restoration for birds in Slovenia.
We have a Patreon page where we share our updates, plans, ideas, behind the scenes and other information. Anyone can support us there starting just from 5 euro per month. And we always produce short documentaries about the work we did, and about amazing project and organizations we are joining.
If you think that what we do is important please support us there.

The Signal Has Gone Live: Welcome to Wish Green

The signal is live.
Just arrived in the Fediverse to start building something deeper.
I’m a conscious creator sharing thoughts, frequencies, questions, and real human upgrades.

This is #WishGreen 🌱
A flow, a project, a perspective shift.

If you think in layers, speak in symbols, or feel reality cracking—let’s connect.

Hello Fediverse!

I'm Stephen Wheeler, an eLearning Technologist at The University of Manchester. My work focuses on online and distance learning, including MOOCs, OERs, and student-centred design rooted in critical pedagogy. I advocate for Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) and ethical, decentralised platforms that support authentic engagement and inclusive education.

I'm here to connect with fellow educators, technologists, and open education advocates, and to explore how platforms like Friendica can support collaborative, non-commercial educational spaces.

Looking forward to meaningful conversations across the Fediverse!

Here we stayed in a very nice free motorhome parking area in a mountain village called Cirat. Cirat has hiking trails, waterfalls and many beautiful lookouts (and also some microscopic creatures that we could observe through our microscope 😁)

We spent 4 days in this spot and found a micromonster

Cirat was such a wonderful place to be in. Close to the mountains and having access to all facilities we needed, made us stay there for 4 days. We just did not want to leave....

A busy session today with all sorts going on! Here's a selection:

We had an old USB keyboard which was awfully dirty. It had sticky and broken keys. Christopher took it home, bathed it in a cleaning solution and allowed it to dry. He then found a canny way to fixed the broken enter key.
Mohammed is a refugee from Iraq seeking asylum in this country. He is interested in learning web development. We are still working towards formal courses so, for the time being, we are offering him 1 hour 1-to-1 sessions learning HTML to start with. A laptop would help Mohammed in various ways. We provided one to him which had kindly been donated by one of our members' Mum. We refurbished the laptop and installed it with the empowering Linux Mint instead of Windows.

A great session and pleased to be serving the Swindon community!!

Just found out that Meta stole 3 of my wife's books to train their AI.

Trying to decide if I'm more angry that they stole 3 of her books or that they didn't steal a single one of mine. 😕

They are not. Sadly, the only way to enjoy that Kevin Bowersox tanginess is to imbibe from the source.

In what frequency do you make a laundry? And if there is a large supply of public laundries In your area?
in reply to Kellen

You mean how often we do the laundry? We managed to go 3 weeks before doing it, and we did 2 loads basically...in the next video we explain it all. But if you have a lot of underwear and socks :) then you can delay this task :9

And yes there are many laundromats in Spain.
