I find these lists very overwhelming. Super long lists of all sorts of channels. But I can try to have a look. Thanks!

The Internet is a shithole

in reply to Tio

Yeah this whole situation is very relatable, I always try to find new ways to block ads and get rid of these BS as much as possible. But now I feel like soon I'll also have to fight my own devices and OS just to install the apps I want to, now that Google is planning to drop support for 3rd party app stores like f-droid - this shit is honestly insane and I'm sure will kill many adblockers and 3rd party YouTube apps which block ads, along with a bunch of good FOSS projects.....

I use Brave (sue me), but also Youtube Enhancer, which gives back a lot of control, uBlock Origin, and a nifty Youtube extension called 'Remove Youtube Suggestions'. Apart from the odd lockup, I never see anything except the videos I choose any more.
It's making me think I should pay for an account, but $11 is too much. $3 maybe.

Howdy folks! 😁

Just got through the timeline again. Boosted some, as there were a few awesome Halloween 🎃 toots out there!
Boosted some of my Masto and Pixelfed things too...
In less than two hours, I'll be in Skoosh, heading to my friends in Almere. Hope the drive will go well.
I'll need to sleep on a couch for two nights, so I'm very sure my back will be glad to be back in bed on Monday. 😉
And Skoosh should have her all-season shoes then. Yay for that too...

It will be a little emotional during my visit at some point, as I will bring the Arwen memorial heart to my friends.

Well, I best pack my bag a bit and then get some food, so that I'll be all good and ready to go when the time comes.

Catch you all later! 😁

Really good documentary! I still think chronically playing video games is bad, but for some people can be a way to cope with problems and/or make friends, have a life...

Yeah I think chronic anything is usually bad but in this case I can understand how it must've been liberating for him. Also solidifies the idea that these virtual interactions are still a way to spend time with each other and form friendships, even if it's online there are still people on the other side of the screen.

Time, Care, and Educational Infrastructure

Much of what sustains digital learning happens quietly and without recognition. Platforms are maintained, content is updated, and learners are supported through invisible acts of care. These forms of labour make education possible, yet they are rarely valued as part of pedagogy.

In my latest post, I explore what might change if we began to see time, care, and maintenance as essential educational practices rather than background work.

I've just sent another letter to my local MP, to which I will not receive a reply as he has not replied to the last few emails that I have sent!

Subject: Rachel Reeves

Dear MP,

As we are usually told, ignorance of the law is no defence!
We saw that Angela Rayner who took advice about her house purchase had to resign because the advice she was given, which she had asked for, was incorrect!
Yet the chancellor, who proudly boasted about bringing laws in that require landlords to get licences from local councils to protect tenants, did not know that the house that she was letting was covered by such a requirement.
Why is she not resigning or being required to resign?
Is it because one was not a right wing Labour MP and the other was?

Yours Sincerely

John
