I almost toasted our trom.tf server while trying to fix invidious....that's it am giving up for now. Removed invidious and nitter form torm.tf temporarily. Alexio may install them on his own server so we test with that, while keeping the same domain names. I do not need this stress in my life haha. Damn I dodged the bullet there. Lesson learned. I've also done the same change to our Invidious and so far works great. No more 502 nginx errors. But, I also don't want to celebrate this too early.

This book will either make you change your monotonous life, or be depressed at the thought that she did so much and you did not. That's how I felt a bit haha. Tho I am happy with my life and my experiences made me who I am today. And am partially joking since she gives you something more than how her lifestyle was, towards the end of the book. She inspires you to change and be a human in this world, but also shows you that it is important for us to do something about this fucked up society.
I will recommend this book to anyone who thinks that humans are naturally drawn towards consumerism (wanting stuff), and that jobs are necessary, and all of this behavior aspect. Sasha is a proof that you can live a wonderful life, do scuba-diving, surfing, climbing so many mountains, swimming in so many waters, sailing, snowboarding, swimming with manta rays, and so much more, without trading much, and without wanting bullshit stuff/objects. And she met some interesting people what had similar values.
Overall a wonderful book. Can't wait for her to release it! :D #tromlive

She worked so hard on this book, since 2017. All about her wonderful and so original lifestyle. Plus, she also talks a lot about our society and even TROM :D.

The Friendica issue may be a user side issue with the cache/cookies. Try to clear the cookies/cache for social.trom.tf and then login again. Let us know if that fixes it. I updated the issue here github.com/friendica/friendica… #tromlive
Seems like the Kdenlive Appimage may work ok...will have to test more tomorrow. Also, such a bloody shame that our Friendica doesn't work properly....it is such a great platform but I feel like the developers from Yunohost may not give it too much attention. idk what else to do about it.
Another strange thing is that we've been getting 502 nginx errors for our invidious and nitter instances, and we investigated the invidious thing and we could not figure where that comes from. Are they connected? I doubt....

I was very eager to go back and work on TROM II today then I noticed many parts are fucked-up. Kdenlive pushed a few minor updates for the past month or so. It happened before with Kdenlive. Not cool. Really bad :( . I can't just fix it. I reported it lets see... but this time there are a lot of bugs. It is a pain in the ass to check the 45 minutes I've done properly. Usually I end up pre-rendering parts of it (a lot of) since it cannot use the GPU most of the time so I can't preview many parts if I don't pre-render. But then I end up with scattered parts that are pre-render, and in total can be as much as 70% of the entire project, and if Kdenlvie pushes some updates and some effects get messed up I can't even see that since likely these effects hide beneath the rendered parts. You know what I mean?

One solution is to use a Kdenlive appimage for the entire documentary. And yah I will miss on new Kdenlive improvements and features and that sucks. Problem is I will get stuck with whatever appimage I choose since the more I use that, the more difference and incompatibility whenever I would ever want to use this project with a new Kdenlive.

You expect people to be aware of their conditioning and stop following the mainstream of our unhealthy culture.
And when you observe facts like the Squid Game, you can't help but get angry.
It's like when you're driving a car and you expect people to drive well, following the rules, and get angry when they do something stupid or crazy.
I haven't seen the show myself, but I'm not surprised that people watched it and it went viral. At this point I expect people to keep doing stupid things.

If I were to have expectations that people would change or be different I wouldn't be doing the projects am doing for the past 10 years. I know very well that accusing people may not make them change, so such posts are not meant for that. They are meant to reinforce the values of those that think the way I do. And to poke some fun at this idiotic society.

The weird thing about me is that I rarely get angry at such things, to the point of alienating people around me because they are like "how the fuck you keep on pointing these bad things about our society and are still not angry or depressed?". Am not because I fully understand where these behaviors come from and there is no wonder the world is the way it is. And ofc I also get angry from time to time, but the above post was not my anger, but a simple rant. One of so many of mine.

When I talk to people I am very kind, as much as I can. But when I post on my personal friendica I can be more aggressive in my language.
It is all fun and interesting to use something like @YunoHost and host your own services and provide for others too. However you need to calm a bit down and understand that you have to maintain these and your server. At times you will regret your decisions :D . Like right now Friendica throws some 502 nginx errors after I updated it 2 days ago. And I can't understand what is happening...that puts some stress on me since I use Friendica daily + others use it too.
I also can't simply restore it at this point - the Yunohost restore doesn't even work as I have a huge database and such. So instead of working on the TROM II documentary I will have to take time and find a fix for this. Then there are other such services that may need such care. It is like having many children.
But I am enacting a policy: NO MORE NEW PROJECTS. PERIOD.
I am also going to move more and more away from the software world to the content world. TROM II, books, and the like.
Software is great and I love it, but I should not transform TROM into a software project.

Ok so I DID IT! I moved from TROMjaro Gnome to TROMjaro XFCE. I will make an article, maybe tomorrow, about how anyone can do it.
Look...I do a lot on my laptop. I have at least 4 workspaces and an extra display, 20TB of files, millions of them in number; I sync my servers with my drives (millions of files) daily; then backup them to other drives; I work on a huge documentary in Kdenlive (project file is over 1.2TB in size); I build custom linux images (tromjaro) and need to test images all the time; I test linux apps for our app library so I have hundreds installed; I sync my photos over 3 drives and a phone, and all merge into 1 single gallery...I have chats and emails, 5 firefox windows each with tens of tabs; I sync files via syncthing with my friends... Trust me I do a lot. I use symlink folders/files and so much more.
So to do the switch and reinstall another OS is crazy to me. Need to make all of this maze work. And I managed to do that in some 5-6 hours or less. I take that as a proof that linux is awesome. And if I could do it, without using the terminal basic

So basically XFCE is super fast and really cool. Only a few things annoyed/annoy me:
1 - The fact that workspaces extend to external displays so you get a fuck ton of workspaces that are kinda useless. That's not how I work. I had to come with a solution for that. It is not that great but is fine. Drag and drop windows between workspaces is something I may not do anymore because of this. But I came up with a solution: using mouse gestures. I have 4 workspaces and I setup it so that when I draw a number between 1 and 4 over a window, it will move it to that particular workspace. That's crazy fast and so cool. Say I have a window in front of my screen and I wanna move it to workspace 4. I draw a 4. Done!
This is done via the Window Tweak Manager and Mouse Gestures. No terminal and such.
2 I am annoyed by the fact that Thunar, the file manager, sucks when it comes to searching files. Good news is that they have kinda fixed that so I am waiting for the update.
I think that's it. The rest seems great. I am so tired hahaah...
Also TROM II project file seems good. All working. Cannot wait to get back to work on it! Now with global menus and HUD. How fucking awesome!
TROMjaro XFCE installed on my machine. So far so good. Restoring apps and settings. A few bugs here and there but so far nothing that bad and may be related to whatever I was doing. #tromlive
I first made TROMjaro for my parents and friends so that they can install a nicely looking and functional Linux distro. Like I focus on making it very easy to use: click an audio file, it opens with a simple yet functional player. Same with most files. Browse the web and see no ads and no trackers track you. Wanna record your screen? Press a key and type record and record. Want to watch our VideoNeat documentaries? Click the magnet button and watch them. Want to install an app? Open the Add/Remove software and search and install. AUR and flatpaks are enabled by default. And so on.
I made it easy to use. Plus we only promote trade-free applications. No BS free trials, give me money, give me your data, and so forth. We have an online library with over 600 trade-free apps that we tested tromjaro.com/apps/ . You can click install and they get installed on your TROMjaro.
Plus global menus, HUD, automated backups and more tromjaro.com/
Sounds good. But trade-free does raise some questions to others. I know what you mean and it is a good thing. Others question why the license is not mentioned online. Some flatpacks might be free to use but it might send data to third parties. Maybe that should be clear to users.

Anywas, from my tests I can fix these small personal inconveniences. XFCE is somewhat different from Gnome in many regards, so maybe getting used to it is even better. Embrace the new!
Probably tomorrow I'll do the switch :D. I need a relaxed mind and time to make sure I can properly switch and not lose any of my files.
