Spent like 6 hours updating our social.trom.tf Dark themes. I love them now. Look much better. The content is in your face, while the rest like buttons to like, share, comment, or who liked a post and such, are out of your way until you hover them. Love it. I need to try and fix the light themes...or maybe we simply use the Dark themes and that's it! :D

Also social.trom.tf works now with several mobile apps and desktop apps. Wonderful. Thanks @Michael Vogel @Hypolite Petovan @Tobias @YunoHost @Roma for contributing and making this possible: from Friendica to Yunohost to people like Roma, this is the chain that allows us to provide social.trom.tf. #tromlive

Look at this haha:

I am cutting and labeling parts for the next section....still have some 30% to do. I like the tagging in Kdenlive. But it's like 5h or recordings that I will have to then cut down to no more than 20 min.... I will post the "leftovers" too perhaps, as separate videos....but for this section I really need to keep it under 20 minutes. Ideally 10 minutes. Difficult! #tromlive

Ehm...again...like...did we reach Idiocracy already? Seems so right?! Right!

....

"Norway has been fined €1,500 after their women's beach handball team did not wear bikini bottoms at a European competition.

Norway's players wore shorts in their bronze medal match against Spain at the European Beach Handball Championship in Varna, Bulgaria, on Sunday.

But the uniform violated the regulations of the International Handball Federation (IHF), which requires players to wear "fitted, low-cut bikini bottoms". "

What can you say hahaha. WTF is happening in the world. I just found this on the frontpage of euronews.

Yah ok...lets go focus on TROM II.

Sooo tired...worked again on TROM II. I had to fix some stuff....kdenlive gave me some work to do :P. But all fine now. All great actually. 25 minutes in and so far i love it. Seems like it is getting somewhere. But I need to go out of the house a bit more haha. Cause I feel like I wake up around 3 or so, go on the computer answer emails, and bla bla bla, then eat around 5, then go at the computer and do some work on trom.tf or other projects (I report so many errors and bugs and submit features to so many open source projects you won't believe :D ), then it is 8-9 already....I may go for a short walk, come back, eat at 10-11, then work on TROM II mostly, till 7-8 in the morning.

Rinse and repeat.

It is also super fucking hot and going out is not much pleasure at all.

Anyways I can sleep very relaxed today because all looks good. TROM II looks great, all trains work. #tromlive

Friendica upgrade failed again, with different weird motives like I lost the admin access and other stuff :D. Submitted the error here github.com/YunoHost-Apps/frien…

Lucky as fuck that we have snapshots of the server, else Friendica fails to restore. The DB seems too big for the job...

Big thanks to @Roma and others from YNH who are trying to fix this ;). #tromlive

Our boy @Roma is helping with the Yunohost packaging for Friendica! How awesome! I hope we can upgrade to the latest Friendica very soon since the latest version supports the Mastodon API and very likely works with any Mastodon client. Which means one can use social.trom.tf with several desktop and mobile clients. Would make the adoption easier for sure. Thank you Roma and the @YunoHost team! We should be team humans and always collaborate and fix problems and enhance our lives generally. It is a shame we have to prostitute ourselves to simply live on this planet. Imagine how much we could do if we at least had our basic needs met so that we are free to focus on important shit. #tromlive

Productive day for working on TROM II. So far I'm 25 minutes in and I barely began telling the story....at this moment I'd say the documentary will be at least 3 or so hours long. But it is a wild wild guess. can be 6 hours idk... I may delete a lot of the next chapters will see....but so far so great in my view. Ofc these things are subjective, the way you create a documentary, but as long as I like it is good. Casue I'm making it :P. #tromlive

I am so happy we filmed in 4k for TROM II. The footage is so sharp even when I zoom in 4 times. And I do that a lot to cut between shots. The quality is super crisp. This is not a smartphone crappy 4k mind you, it is with a proper camera 4k. I don't even understand why are these 2k 4k 8k and such terminologies relevant when you have phones filming in 4k that are complete shit compared with a proper 4k camera. Well just marketing schemes....

We also filmed with another camera, up-close from one side, in full hd. But am not sure I'll use that footage because I like it more when we face the camera. We'll see. At least we have that option in case we need it ;). #tromlive

I will likely replace Dash to Dock with Dash to Panel on TROMjaro. Testing it these days and so far it is better. More options, more flexibility, more stable it seems. I like it. I wanted to use it from the beginning but it did not support the left alignment that we use in TROMjaro and now it does.

I may do a video Windows 11 vs TROMjaro soonish ;). Cause I think people underestimate Linux by a huge margin and think Windows 11 is so "revolutionary" haha. #tromlive

Finally a new TROMjaro ISO with Gnome 40 fully integrated. tromjaro.com/releases/ All seems to work fine except a few errors with the Dash to Dock panel like you can't tweak its settings. Probably they will fix it soon. I like the new Gnome look. Doesn't bother me. Like it a bit better than the previous. All fine! Grab the ISO from tromjaro.com/install/ - use TROMdrive.

I am so happy when all works with TROMjaro. For the past year or so we've had a very stable TROMjaro. Thanks mainly to the Manjaro team of course, but I've also learned what and how to tweak to keep TROMjaro itself stable.

Tomorrow I'll get back to TROM II. So tired today. Also getting my vaccine tomorrow, first shot. Happy about that although it is such a retarded world where young people get the vaccine now, while people of all ages in poor tribes are getting none. I'd happily donate my vaccine to some older folk from those countries. It is what it is...

Ok, so I tried the latest version of TROMjaro (14.07.2021) from the ISO image using ventoy.

I'm happy to report that it was very stable this time, I was surprised by it tbh. The only sorta error I could find was that an app "hp-uiscan" had no icon (see the image).

To give you some context, the last ISO image I tried was version 22.12.2020 which is almost a year ago. I can certainly say that TROMjaro had improved a lot in terms of stability during these months.

yup this is an error with that particular app that cannot pick up a relevant icon....it is an issue with the app itself and the way it is built....I tried to fix it several times but could not unfortunately. Should not be a huge deal tho is just an icon ofc, but thanks for reporting. And am happy to hear you find tromjaro as stable. That's important as that's what I wanted to achieve. I will release a new ISO today or tomorrow and improve a few things, and try to look again at that app and its icon ;)

I'm currently on artix linux, which is just like arch linux but without systemd. I use larbs.xyz to create a minimal setup that I can easily use and works well out of the box.

This is of course a more advanced setup, but I like it better. After learning things like linux & vim, it changed my view on computers in general. Before all this I didn't knew the point of using PCs when you can do almost everything on mobile these days, but now I know why :)

Yeah, its made by Luke Smith who has a peertube. He's a controversial figure in the linux community because he says some really stupid things - fosstodon.org/@futureisfoss/10…

Despite all this, he's still a very knowledgeable man when it comes to tech & linux, I've learned a lot of things from him. His videos are more focused on linux than privacy, this will give you an idea - videos.lukesmith.xyz/videos/wa…

landchad.net is a new project he started, maybe you can add it to trade-free directory

The fact that most people are not bothered by vertical videos means that most people use phones and are ok with consuming everything on that narrow screen. I also know (maybe I am wrong but...) that phones are either iOS or Android, the rest are a small minority that are basically Android forks that still rely on Google. I also project that one cannot do more on a phone than consume stuff and scroll and scroll. Nothing wrong with using a phone for some basic tasks and not for that long, but I feel like these vertical videos tell a much bigger and important story here. It tells me that humans are cheap consumers of crappy stuff, and they don't mind to trade their attention and data to a handful of powerful companies.

Also trade their bloody comfort. I could not imagine 7 years ago to show to someone a vertical video and them to be: yeah, that's cool. They would be kicking my ass and calling me stupid for filming in such a way that you can't see anything.

Maybe I should make TROM II vertically. So I am hip.

Tested the Manjaro Gnome 40 update in a VM with TROMjaro. Pretty much all fine. There are some minor bugs but nothing that bad. It looks good. I like the Gnome 40 style. More clean. However the workspaces are not super useful the way they are displayed. Too small if you wanna find a window on one of your workspaces or drag them to another workspace. The Unity way of doing workspaces, dividing the screen in 4 big blocks, is still the best I've yet to see.

Probably today I'll work on releasing a new TROMjaro ISO with a few fixes and additions. #tromlive
