It's been a few months since we installed this BougeRV Aircon in our motorhome. It consumes around 500W of power. So can it cool down the motorhome and also not destroy our batteries?

Seems easy to solve, but since our database is massive, around 80GB, it took around 20 hours to restore....
I understand that it totally sucks for a Social Network to be down for almost a day. People may be put off and not want to use Friendica anymore. Or our instance at least. But our instance has been very reliable for the past years and I always email people to tell them about updating it, so they are aware such things can happen.
Also, our budget for TROM.tf is around €0, compared to the billions floating around Facebook and the like. So please understand that.
Today we will give the update another try, and it is likely to work. If it doesn't at least thanks to @YunoHost a backup will be automatically restored.
No worries, some of us enjoy Friendica and TROM.tf for reasons that a day's worth of downtime couldn't sway. And I'd like to think there's more folk around here than just me who very much appreciate the hard work you and your team put in on our behalf. Plus, there's only one thing that could ever drag me away from this instance, and we all know I just can't be trusted to do the upkeep on one of my own.

This is Glymur Falls, Iceland. Amazing hike and waterfall not too far from Reykjavik. You have to cross a river to get to the lookout, but it's pretty shallow and the hike is quite easy (and well worth it!).
I set off on my first 4-day hike at 7pm, when the family dropped me off at the trailhead of a route called Síldarmannagötur, around Lake Skorradalsvatn. I decided to ease into my hiking in Iceland adventure by doing a Workaway for the first month. I'm staying in a beautiful town called Akranes with a lovely Icelandic family. I'm working part time in exchange for accommodation and food, and I'm able to test my camping/hiking equipment on my days off. So far only my jacket and sleeping pad are a big failure 😁 The Hubba Hubba tent and phantom sleeping bag have held up in below freezing conditions, so that's a relief 😅 Here are some photos from my first week in Iceland.

Yeah, last two years they didn't but this summer they got permission again to kill 100+ Fin Whales, which are 2nd biggest mammals on planet . It's kind of with Sea Shepherd, the founder made his own organization "Paul Watson Foundation" so I will go with them
It is astonishing to think that I can take a full shower with less water than it takes to flush a toilet.
I consume around 4-5L of water for the shower, and to flush it takes 6-8L. One pee, one flush, and you consume more water than it takes me to have a 20 minutes shower.
In Spain, where I am, people use 128L of water per day, per person. As much as I use in almost 3 weeks.

They do not simply make these tools to help you, and make it easier and more reliable to search for stuff. Ask yourself how will Google, and others, make money off of these "AI" tools now? It will be even more deceiving and sneaky.

What is Friendica
Friendica is a decentralised communications platform, you can use to host your own social media server that integrates with independent social networking platforms (like the Fediverse or Diaspora*) but also some commercial ones like Tumblr and BlueSky.
Ensure that the last backup of your Friendica installation was done recently.
Using Git
Updating from the git repositories should only involve a pull from the Friendica core repository and addons repository, regardless of the branch (stable or develop) you are using. Remember to update the dependencies with composer as well. So, assuming that you are on the stable branch, the commands to update your installation to the 2026.05 release would be cd friendica git pull bin/composer.phar run install:prod cd addon git pull If you want to use a different branch than the stable one, you need to fetch and checkout the branch before your perform the git pull.
Pulling in the dependencies with composer will show some deprecation warning, we will be working on that in the upcoming release.
As many files got deleted or moved around, please upload the unpacked files to a new directory on your server (say friendica_new) and copy over your existing configuration (config/local.config.php and config/addon.config.php) and .htaccess files. Afterwards rename your current Friendica directory (e.g. friendica) to friendica_old and friendica_new to friendica.
The files of the dependencies are included in the archive (make sure you are using the friendica-full-2026.05 archive), so you don’t have to worry about them.
Post Update Tasks
The database update should be applied automatically, but sometimes it gets stuck. If you encounter this, please initiate the DB update manually from the command line by running the script bin/console dbstructure update from the base of your Friendica installation. If the output contains any error message, please let us know using the channels mentioned below.
Please note, that some of the changes to the database structure will take some time to be applied, depending on the size of your Friendica database this update might run for days.
If you are using the daemon for your background worker, note that we have moved the functionality into the console. Adopt your setup to use the new bin/console daemon command.

If you want to contribute to the project, you don’t need to have coding experience. Contribution to Friendica is also not limited to coding. Any contribution to the documentation, the translation or advertisement materials is welcome or reporting a problem. It was something I have thought about for a long time but I never said it because what are the odds of getting so many to agree and get rid of the system. I think if it were to happen, it will most likely happen slowly.
We went to ARPA Protected Landscape in Armenia. Where from village Areni we joined Arpa Rangers to monitor the area, check camera traps, count animals and do regular check of the territory.
Starlink increased its "standby" price from €5 to €10 a month. That is for half a MB connection, unlimited data. Basically for calls and emergency things. Since we decided to get Starlink for our motorhome 2 years ago, they almost doubled their prices for all of their subscriptions. They always do that. It is insane!
But Tio why do you even get a Starlink?! Because living in a motorhome and traveling with it...there is no reliable wifi/mobile converge. Not to mention one across Europe. I hate Starlink and the Elon Skunk, and we already have the dish for which we paid €300...so idk what the options are.
We use Starlink for "emergency" purposes. I thought €5 a month is fine. But now double the price...and I BET they will make it €15 in the following months.
The price of gas has increased because of a war we have nothing to do with. Why not cut down the profits of the big oil companies instead of taxing the struggling people who need gas?

Out of curiosity, will there be a way that a mobile client could connect back to the Holos install for interaction? I really like the idea of everything living on a machine that isn't going to lose it's connection if I drive to an area with no signal but it still would be nice to interact with when I'm away from home.
@bobkmertz Each Holos install runs its own ActivityPub server, so a desktop and a mobile would normally be two separate accounts. But multi-device sync via the relay is planned: one account, several devices staying in sync. That would cover exactly your use case.
