VideoNeat is up again! The theme was very old and not updated in years so it was not working properly and we were unable to update the whole website for some time now. We finally changed the theme and redesigned the entire website. It looks quite similar to how it was before, but probably a bit more functional now.
Mind you it is not optimized for mobile phones and it won't be for some time. It is not a priority for now. Only after the TROM II documentary is released we can do that. But regardless this website is not meant for such tiny screens anyway. And most mobile phones can't even properly support the Bittorrent network that VN uses.
Also we need some 50 more euros for our campaign to pay for the backups for VN and all other websites. Please help if you can tromsite.com/fundraiser/ we have to pay in less than a week.

Big thanks to @Roma again for donating 100€ for our backups donation campaign. Since he did it directly we changed the goal from 250 to 150 Euros. Please if anyone can, help us out to pay for the backups. We have 3 more weeks to raise the funds. This amount covers a full year of backups.
For tromsite.com, trom.tf, videoneat.com, tromjaro.com the Trade Free websites and everything we heave created.

Did you know that we provide a trade-free Nextcloud instance at files.trom.tf via our trom.tf/ project? We give 5GB for free to anyone and can raise up to 20GB to anyone who needs more. Just let us know. Everything, trade-free, out of our kindness. We provide it with OnlyOffice + the Photos app. Server side encryption and all that.
It would be great if we could also get some financial support to pay for our yearly backups for all of our trade-free services. We have a campaign here tromsite.com/fundraiser/ and we need to raise some 250 Euros. It is going very slow and that's a bit sad considering that at least hundreds of people use these services on a daily basis.
If you use them please consider helping us. We do not engage into any BS trade thing. We treat everyone as equal, do not sell anything, do not collect your data or insert ads into your face.
Hopefully we can raise the amount and this time not by large donations by the same handful of people who keep on supporting TROM, but by small donations from those who use these services so we can make this more sustainable. #tromlive

A big thank you to @Rafa Peris for the 260 Euros donation! Much much appreciated. This guy is amazing overall. He has always helped TROM with the Spanish translations and continues to do so as much as he can. Now he helps the project financially too. Can't thank you enough Rafa, hermano! :)
We are working hard to finish the TROM II documentary before May, and in May we are planning a TROM Meeting with a bunch of close TROM friends. We may create videos and brainstorm about the future of this project. We will update you all via our Friendica page as always.
Stay engaged! #tromlive

Our donation campaign for the TROM Laptop is now done thanks to the ~600 Euros donation from an anonymous donor. tromsite.com/tromlaptop/
A massive thanks to everyone who donated! It will help me, Tio, manage the TROM stuff in a more relaxed and sane manner. Make things easier for me and more flexible. Allowing me to "go out there" at one point, and take my TROM work with me.
Again, massive thanks to everyone who supports this project! #ŧromlive

$649 Dyson Fan vs. $15 Walmart Fan: The Hard Truth ytb.trom.tf/watch?v=dS0oFmzU06…
We live in the Bullshit Society, where new products are being made for the purpose of being made. To trade. Often these products are pointless. Like the example above. A classic fan vs a "modern" one that costs 50 times more. Despite this, the classic fan is better at....well...cooling you down. And yet, these nonsense products are advertised as better.
As long as we live in this trade based society we will be flooded by such nonsense. Wasted resources. Pointless products. Wasted lives in the end. Both for those making them, and those using them.
We need to move away from this cancerous trade-based society. #tromlive
$649 Dyson Fan vs. $15 Walmart Fan: The Hard Truth
When I was young, I was a little obsessed with how cool Dyson fans were. But are they actually worth that amount of money? In this relatively silly video, I'm going to compare it to my $15 Walmart fan with wind speed and sound level tests! Dyson Pur…Mark Spurrell | Invidious

The time, energy, skills and resources spend on designing and making these fans could've been spend on something actually useful for our society, but how can that be when their sole purpose is to trade and make more money for themselves 🤦
You forgot the hashtag #TradeRuinsEverything

Well, unless the price difference is THAT high. I'm ready to pay 5 times more, not 50.

From my knowledge both websites are managed by the same person. And yes, of course, adding those logo-ads on the joimastodon and the documentation website is different from adding ads to the main mastodon instance, but it is a hint as to where the mentality is. As in, they are ok to accept "sponsors" that are companies, and reward these sponsors by giving them some ad space.
The post above is not about this, mind you. But about the real possibility of monetizing the fediverse too.

@TROM Update; right now you can still see the remnants of someone trying to forcefully commercialize just a part of the #fediverse..
Here it started; techhub.social/@cloy/109598814… but it's already gone.
Here you can see the local copy still saved on my home instance. friendica.utzer.de/display/118…

Newly added to the Trade-Free Directory:
Ultimaker Cura
Cura is an open source slicing application for 3D printers. It was created by David Braam who was later employed by Ultimaker, a 3D printer manufacturing company, to maintain the software. Cura is available under LGPLv3 license. Cura was initially released under the open source Affero General Public License version 3, but on 28 September 2017 the license was changed to LGPLv3. This change allowed for more integration with third-party CAD applications. Development is hosted on GitHub. Ultimaker Cura is used by over one million users worldwide and handles 1.4 million print jobs per week. It is the preferred 3D printing software for Ultimaker 3D printers, but it can be used with other printers as well.

If you want to know what TROM is about maybe you can read our main book: The Origin of Most Problems - tromsite.com/books/#flipbook-d…
If you find anything conspiratorial I'd be very curious to know what that is.

Despite that I will summarize what TROM is about, for you:
The society we live in, from China to USA, Europe to Russia, from communism to socialism, capitalism, and so forth, is simply a society of trade. From cryptocurrencies to ads, to money or data collection, pretty much everything in our society is driven and based on trade. A simple practice that made sense hundreds of years ago, but today it drives more destruction than anything else. It makes us all put profit over anything else. And thus, we argue, trade is what drives humans to create most of the problems we see in the world today: climate change, waste, slavery, corruption, data collection, you name it.
That being said, we argue that you simply cannot make this game fair, we should move beyond it. So, what if we start to create trade-free goods and services to push aside the trade-based ones, killing the bad incentives that push humans to create so many pro

We argue that the most important part is to understand "the problem" not to come up with any solutions. Like the only way to, for example, cure cancer, is to understand what cancer is. We give this example with the germs. Before discovering these microscopic organisms many hundreds of millions of humans died since they had 0 solutions for those infections. The moment they understood where these infections come from (little tiny organisms, germs) they came up with a lot of solutions: vaccines, washing their hands, some pills, boiling the water before consumption, you name it.
So we want to make sure people understand that "trade is the origin of most problems".
For example when you ask "Is Trade Free a version of socialism?" then what do you mean by socialism? What Robert Owen started in the 18hundreds as "socialism"? What some tribes proclaim today to be socialism?
Trade-Free means we should create goods and services that ask nothing in return. Like Wikipedia,

Trade-Free means we should create goods and services that ask nothing in return. Like Wikipedia, Doctors Without Borders, Open Source software, and so forth. No ideology behind really, just a "humane and humanitarian" practice.

videoneat.com/category/documen…
Look at the screenshot attached, just 2 documentaries are taking up all my screen and I still can't fully read the description of the first one. Would be nice if it were more compact, having to scroll a lot is bad UX.
And of course there's no hurry, you can fix this when you're free from all the TROM II work.

I did not test it much for other resolutions but will try to improve it a bit the following months. Am too sick now and also need to focus on TROM II. In the meantime try to zoom out a bit ;)
