Welcome to Earth, where trade is the main practice that everyone is a follower of, willingly or not. Where humans care mostly, if not entirely, about trade and how to maximize their advantage.
How can we get ourselves out of this shit, unless we start by understanding what the shit is made of!?
First: understand the problem. TRADE. The fact that we've built a society where you cannot survive unless you trade this for that. Once we understand this, hopefully we can tackle it. Give people a way to have a decent life, access to at least their basic needs as trade-free, and then try to replace more and more trade-based services (like say transportation) with trade-free alternatives.
Volunteers plus trade-free goods/services can create more of them, replicating over time and replacing the cancerous trade-based practices.
Learn how to fight deforestation in paperback :) haha Some time ago there was an album of singer Jack Johnson who with it was fighting the plastic pollution. He made a nice music video collecting plastic on a beach, and was promoting especially problem on the beaches of Hawaii, of course the album was in a plastic CD format :) I pointed out that in the comments, and I believe his manager replied that if I don't want CD i can buy digital download :) But the fact that they are selling hundreds of thousands of plastic CD's haven't confused him at all :)
Yeah I am so not surprised. I wonder if these people understand the irony and choose to ignore it because they make money off of it, or simply they cannot see the connection there....

One of the things I've learned from the driving school is that newer cars that have a lot of safety features, are involved in more accidents than older cars that lack these features. They say it is because people do not know how to use these features or are more confident while driving thinking that the "safety" features are going to protect them.

Recycling Doesn’t Work—and the Plastics Industry Knew It
And here we go about the waste.. As I have said many times, recycling plastic is not a solution, but rather a convenient distraction and a way to shift the responsibility of large companies for mass production of plastic onto the shoulders of the people. There are some very disturbing news that recycling is not going to help in a long run and there is only 5-6% of collected plastics estimated as being recycled (![url=https://cobaltkiss.blue/users/MostlyHarmless])[/url]. On the other hand, the poorest countries and regions suffer the most from toxic waste products and landfills, because this brings the greatest profit, and if this is still the case, the problem will never be solved.
We need more trade-free goods and services that can be designed from the scratch to reduce the waste, instead of generation the endless profit or competition advantage. In this way, more devices and products that are reusable, free to use, repairable, and durable can benefit our Planet's environment and Human society as a whole.

In February I've joined Slovakian Bat Conservation Society for their yearly census of bats in Opal mines. That's the oldest opal mines in the world, for around 100 they been closed, and recently opened for tourism. But it also perfect place for bats to hibernate during winter. And that's why it's the best time to count them to monitor their population.
that's great to hear. Because you know when my videos are not seen by many I always tend to think that it's because my production suck. Especially storytelling, like people get bored watching it, and it's my fault, because i have work more on the story flow and how to make it interesting. So I work a lot on that, to improve it. But then maybe it's not me, but the overall topics I choose to highlight, the algorithm game, values and interests of the people, and over saturation of content . In other words it's a mystery to me, which I try to solve, to understand what should i do next to make more people care about such stuff.

From my perspective and others' too, you not only do good, but great at that. To me it seems like a BBC production at times haha, like the documentaries I watch from BBC. I think is the way you follow the volunteers, the camera work, but also the audio like you feel that you are there when you watch it. It follows the story very well. You also add the human factor there, with the people involved and interview them a little bit and that makes it more personal - not just some researchers going through some caves, but you see these are real people who care about what they do.
Overall from my perspective you do great. The subjects you pick are very interesting for me, but yeah for today's retarded society may not be that attractive like most science/educational content is. But definitely I would not say the videos are boring. Quite the opposite.
Yeah I think you do a fantastic job with your videos, @Dima really professional and really interesting, from the story-telling, to the interviews, to the cuts, music and everything. It's just that in today's world, you have to make 10-second dancing videos to get lots of views. Where are those, Dima?!?!? 😆 haha but really, don't let that get you down, you make important and informative content in an interesting way, that's what matters.

Although I don't use Plasma, I use XFCE with TROMjaro, I congratulate KDE for this release and the work they've done over the years. XFCE, KDE, and the like, are not competitors, but diversity in choices. That's how we should operate as a society, do not compete, but collaborate and create diversity. @esh ...after over 3 decades of psychological stress from broken and inflexible 🪟s, we switched last year to #linux on all our machines, pcs, laptops and servers. Well in fact TROMjaro is a distro I started and currently maintain together with a few friends like @Roma and @Rokosun - it is based on Manjaro but has many tweaks added to it to make it stable, reliable, and easier to use. Like we enable the chaotic aur + flatpaks from the get-go. That together with Manjaro's repos and AUR, means that you get access to all of the Linux applications from one single place.

The competition to FLOSS desktop projects will always be proprietary desktop providers. The creators of Windows and macOS, who seek to abuse users, lock them inside walled gardens and pollute their environment with forced hardware upgrades and deliberately faulty and inefficient software.
Even as a long time Plasma user, I cannot but admire #XFCE and its developers who strive to pack all those features into the lightest desktop possible.

This is a MINI motorhome hahaha. Mini in American terms means 8 meters long. We were looking at buying a medium size motorhome in EU no longer than 6 meters. 8 meters is HUGE. And this one even has "expandable" walls, or whatever you call those:
On top of this it has 2000W of solar panels....my lord! I was thinking we may need a max of 400W for 2 people, and this woman has 2000 for 1 person. And she has around 6000Wh of battery storage, that's some 20 times more than what we probably would need...
She was even like "it is a baby motorhome...you can even park it in normal parking spots"....I guess so in America...
And at the end of the video she's like "oh yeah and I'm also towing a 4x4 pickup truck"...

She even has a HUGE tent that she puts up while camping haha.
If you put that setup, a 8m motorhome plus towing that huge car in Europe, on any road, you'll probably get stuck. Americans live the big life. Big cars, big motorhomes, big fridges and homes. Big people. Statistically it's true.
Even if I had a ton of money I would never go for this lifestyle. We love a small motorhome, a few things, and the ability to feel free-er.

I see that now the Friendica YNH package has finally added the Daemon feature I was waiting for for so long - github.com/YunoHost-Apps/frien… - thanks to OniriCorpe for the amazing work! These days I will give it a shot and see how it goes. I will have to redo our Friendica themes customizations and such, but that was a must needed work since the themes I created were a mess in terms of the CSS code, and Friendica seems to have improved their default themes a lot.
Anyway, these days is about some WebApe work, TROMjaro new ISO release today, Friendica update. Continuing my work.
100% yes! I will for sure. Sorry I said I will but then I got busy with other work. And yeah our only "branding" is the replacement of the Friendica logo with ours, the rest is just about the themes. So yeah will do! I need to remember where I have to do that :)
If by the end of this year we cannot get at least 70-80% of the funding we need for TROM, see https://www.tromsite.com/donate/, then we will have to shut down and limit many of our projects. This is unfortunate but there is no way we can support so many projects, let alone grow them.
If we cannot find 200 people to donate 5 Euros a month to support the many projects that we have, then perhaps it is a sign that some things have to end. In particular TROM.tf that provides a video platform with unlimited uploads for everyone, a file hosting with 10GB of diskspace for anyone who joins, a social network and a chat platform opened for the public. Plus more such services. They will have to close, or solely be available for us at TROM to host our stuff.
I will give you more details these following weeks about what projects will be shut down in case our campaign fails by the end of this year.
There will probably be a video series that I will start for TROM in a few weeks time, but unless I find enough support to help me battle this trade-based society, then I cannot do much. TROM.tf costs a lot of money and it will cost us more and more, the more people use it. We need more diskspace, more CPU power, and such.
It is unfortunate but I need to be realistic and deal with these things in a graceful way. If I am to remove many of our projects, they will be done in a smooth way, landing the plane rather than crashing it. So do not worry. You'll have enough time to move to different platforms and save your files.
In the meantime I will work this year to make these projects better, keep them updated, release new things. I will give them my best shot to hopefully get enough financial support in order to continue with them.

Passed the bloody stupid written driving exam haha!! After 2 months of torture. No more! Fuck it. I still have to pass the driving practice test but that is in like 3 months from now...takes so long. I learned a lot and out of the online tests they gave me I have passed more than 90% of them. Thousands and thousands of questions....so let's see. Navalny had a huge following and was able to pierce with his campaign through the thick and foggy blanket of propaganda that the Russian government is so good and persistent at. And Navalny may not have been a saint or may not have changed much in Russia, who knows considering the level of corruption that infected all governments around the world, but for sure he was attacked, silenced, and eventually killed (directly or indirectly through a lot of abuse).
Many journalists have been imprisoned or even killed, and now we can see these publicly and so clearly. It is naive to think that pretty much anyone who challenges Putin drops dead or in prison and this has nothing to do with Putin. But probably these wannabe dictators do not even mind to cover up anything anymore.

We are noticing the modern public beheading of those who challenge the status quo. But these modern dictators do not have yet the courage to admit that they did it. They only make it very obvious that they did.
Russia seems to have become an authoritarian regime, the old school one. And this is increasingly concerning. Silencing the protesters, killing the political opponents, and infecting the media with terrible propaganda.
"make no mistake" (to quote the chief of USA), the other tribes are flavors of the same medicine. USA, EU, and the rest, are abusive in their own way, and have killed, and still killing, many innocent people. Russia is just worse. So don't let the degree of "doing bad things" take away from the fact that the other tribes are also abusive. USA may not kill the political opponents, but it is damn good at giving no chance to any radical change in the good direction of their tribe.
Anyway.... it is a sad and scary world. Humans, what a deplorable species.
