Having an Nvidia card on Linux is almost exactly like not having it.
No hardware acceleration in the browser, not used in video editing except a little bit - extremely little bit. Or video conversion. I might as well use my GPU as a cup holder haha. And to try and make it work is either impossible or very difficult. That entirely defeats the Linux's awesome "works out of the box" approach. Not with Nvidia, not with my Nvidia. I got to accept over the years that my computer basically has no graphics card. 4GB of GPU RAM are just sitting there. God bless. If I ever have enough money to buy a new laptop I'll never ever ever buy one with Nvidia.
This is not the fault of Linux but Nvidia not providing proper drivers for Linux and keeping theirs proprietary.

Funny enough I cannot find a decent photo album FOSS app.... Here are the things I need, and I think these should be default to any such app:
- Ability to select what folder/path to be indexed by it and the ability to scan it so that it automatically adds new photos/videos.
- Sort all videos and photos by date in one stream of photos. Don't make me click the year, then date, then day to see any photos....hear me GThumb?!
- Let me double click any and view it then also able to edit any photo with basic tools: rotate, luminosity, etc..
That's all. Is it too much to ask?! :D. I tested so many and all have these features but separately...which is so weird. Shotwell, Pix, Kphotoalbum, and so many....none seem to be properly useful. What's happening!? The people who make these apps do not use them? :D

okay sorry, that went straight over my head. đ
In that case I'm not of much help...
Why I donât post on my website again?
I started in 2005 or so with a website. In Romanian. My blog. My own place where I could write my thoughts. It was easy thanks to WordPress. No need to code anything. Just write and add some images/videos.TIO

We are indexing a lot of websites for our Yacy decentralized search engine. A proper search engine that we integrated into our SearX instance at search.trom.tf. We want to make SearX a lot more relevant + add up to the decentralized search engine. We will index some 30-40GB of stuff, meaning a few million pages. We take the best sources from our own websites, tromnews, and the like. And test the search results and tweak them to make them better and better.
@Rokosun and @Alexio are helping with this. Great humans! #tromlive

This is how I keep our servers/services in a good state, especially when it comes to trom.tf and its over 20 services:
- I delay the updates that come from yunohost. Wait a few days before you update any app, just in case there is an issue with any update. Take a look at their github page to see if others complain :;)
- Before I update any app or any package (system) I create a system snapshot. That means I can always restore even if I blow it all up.
- Yunohost automatically creates a backup before updating any app. This is super handy.
- I do daily backups to a remote server for all of our servers.
This way it is a lot less likely for me to break any website for long. I can pretty much always restore it. I learned from mistakes. Now I think our servers work quite well and are quite stable.

Here's a photo that symbolizes how we do things on our planet:
The waste, the deception, the fuckery. These are not called criminals despite them being so obviously manipulative and wasteful. No...they are just "marketers". Because we are forced to trade, we then become the masters of trading, making us imagine all ways of selling shit. Unless we change our trade based society, nothing will change. No war, no pandemic will bring any useful change. #tromlive

A 97-Year-Old Philosopher Faces His Own Death ytb.trom.tf/watch?v=qX6NztnPU-âŚ
This video made me very sad. I alwyas thought about death and how fucked up it is to die. I do not want to. I am still young but death is something I will have to face, whether I like it or not. We are all in the process of dying. I wish this stupid society would be saner and we could focus on fighting aging. Cure it. Prolong it if not. But the priorities today are the opposite: to kill humans, to make them busy with nonsensical jobs. To waste them entirely.
This video is motivational on the other hand, to not waste your time. Because you run out of it. So far I've done what I wanted to do and I keep on trying to do the same. I wish we could fix aging...I wish we could fix our society, because that could allow us to also fix aging.... #tromlive
A 97-Year-Old Philosopher Faces His Own Death
Herbert Fingarette once argued that there was no reason to fear death. At 97, his own mortality began to haunt him, and he had to rethink everything. Read more: https://www.theatlantic.Invidious

Here's a video with allegedly Ukrainian thieves. teddit.net/r/UkraineWarVideoRe⌠Humans stealing from stores. They are strapped to some poles and have their pants down by the Ukrainian soldiers and other Ukrainian humans. The stupidity and cruelty of humanity has no borders. First you force all males to stay in the tribe and fight, being bombed and scared and hungry, then some may steal, and you think the best is to humiliate them. Nice!
Also notice how penises are censored but not blown up humans in the same war.
Humans...such an idiotic animal can be. It all depends on the environment. We can have Einsteins and Gandhis, or soldiers and dictators.
So awful. #tromlive

For me flatpak is more like a bandage than anything else, sure it might be helpful in situations like these, but its never a complete long term solution. All of these problems you described happened because of dependency errors, I usually downgrade that dependency to make things work until the devs figure it out and release a new update that works.
Instead of changing the program to work on the user's machine, flatpak changes the user's machine to make the program work ! This is what flatpak does in a nutshell. it sure makes things easy for the devs, but I think an optimal solution here would be to have a better system for detecting dependency errors and maybe provide an easy method for users to downgrade packages if something goes wrong.

in reply to Rokosun • •Sure I could have done that but that will probably result in other broken packages that depend on that one.
