So someone on github thought me a much easier hack to make the peertube homepage any page we want, without touching the nginx config at all. Here's how simple it is: you log in as root/admin on your peertube. Go to "configuration" and where it asks to select the landing page, right click that and then "Inspect Element". You'll see this:

Now select the "option" for say "Local videos" and edit it in that window and replace the "value" with any url you want. Now select that option in the Configuration and click save. That's it. You tricked Peertube!

Again: the idea is to change the value of any of the selected options in the Landing Page dropdown to any URL you want, and click save. Brilliant! #tromlive

Ok so to cope with the idiocracy on our Peertube instance where idiots are posting crappy and conspriacy videos, I managed to manually redirect the entire instance videos.trom.tf from any other page that made no sense, to our main TROM channel videos.trom.tf/video-channels/… . Maybe I'll replace that redirect with the About page. After users login they will, unfortunately, still see a page with random videos (the Discover page) and although that also redirects to our main channel, the way peeertube works it cannot detect the redirect after users login or log out...for now it is fine. Not ideal but at least ok. I also removed the buttons: discover, trending and so forth. They were confusing and full of crap.

Peertube is amazing, but unfortunately is full of retarded videos coming from idiots who got deplatformed by big tech who just want a "clean" space for advertisers.

Anyways, at least now is less crap visible on the platform. #tromlive

For those who want to do it for their own peertube instances, it is easy. Go to your Nginx config file for Peertube. For me, using Yunohost, it is /etc/nginx/conf.d/videos.trom.tf/peertube.conf . On the very bottom add:

rewrite ^/$ /video-channels/trom redirect;
  rewrite ^/videos/overview$ /video-channels/trom redirect;

And of course replace "/video-channels/trom" with a URL of your choice, and "overview" with whatever page is setup as the landing page in your admin settings.

Restart Nginx. Done.

So they kick the conspiracy nuts as a PR move.

3 These idiots that get "deplatformed" migrate to alternative platforms like Peertube, lbry, mastodon, or whatever else. And we end up with the idiots on these amazing platforms. The garbage that the big corporations threw out because they wanted a "clean" platform where ads can be advertised. Whatever "clean" means, since they are still full of garbage.

So yah....our Peertube will be flooded with crappy stuff, but so will be our friendica. Since these are trade-free tools we will leave them as such and not ban any video. We will try to tilt the balance towards science by the content we will upload and will try to remove any "trending" or other links from our Peertube. #tromlive

I had to re-add the sources to our tromsite.com/live/ since they got very messedup. This plugin we use for the job is unstable for this kind of job...I had to remove the live stream for the TROM II page tromsite.com/trom2/ and replace with the live one...so is not trom2 dedicated....but tromlive. It got too messed-up. Anyways... #tromlive

ourminds.online moved to the free domain ourminds.tk - and it will stay there. As said, I cannot deal with this website and I never intended to...I think it can be a great idea to have a common-blog for us at TROM, but it always is subject to how much our "minds" are in sync. One pseudo-nonsense blog post and that can ruin it for others haha. There are many great articles there and if anyone around TROM is willing to take care of it then great! #tromlive

Plastic is the new "climate change". And the similarities are striking! In both cases humans put profit over anything else. In both cases humans did so for tens of years, and only after a while they started to realize or admit the impacts. In both cases the alarm is ringing very loud, and yet the ones polluting keep on polluting. In both cases the blame either goes on people (Hey people, sort your garbage! Don't use electricity so much! Buy local! Use electric cars! WTF people!), or on companies (Let's regulate them! Let's fine them! Let's....!) - and none are true or working. The blame should be on our trade-based society.

So yah, same story. Humans create a huge fucking mess, and we play the blame game and try to stop it by slapping hands, left and right, hopping that this will stop humans form doing the "bad" things. Not working!

I managed a bit my tiotrom.com website today. Removed some old and irrelevant blog posts, replaced some archive.org videos with peertube ones, and removed all google trackers from the site. Good!

Also, it is so bloody annoying when you make some blog posts and embed youtube videos that are very relevant, to then see them removed...from now on I'll mirror them all on our videos.trom.tf whenever we will use any kind of videos for the TROM books or my personal website...it is simply fucked up that you can't link to these and have them "stay there". Same with links. At least you can use the wayback machine to save links...

Anyways, I will work these days to move ourminds.online to another domain that's free because .online one is too expensive and I also don't want to manage that website anymore :D. It was Dima's idea and I just made the website, but since he doesn't manage it anymore then well...I also can't. Won't disappear but I won't manage it either. Added the description for all of our tromcasts videos.trom.tf/videos/watch/pl… - Peertube is amazing. I love it. It even supports markdown in the description or comments. Fucking great. Did some tromnews work today and tomorrow I'll focus on my own website a bit. This week we record @Dima for TROM II #trom2. After my website, I'll focus again on trom.tf to add translations and maybe try to fix the design for the apps for mobile...I hate mobile phones...so lets see if I am in the mood to fix the design for that. #tromlive

Great documentary! Highly recommend it! 8 hours of fun-history about how money pretty much influences everything. Ideas like communism, socialism, capitalism, whatever ism, and theories about left, right, democracy and so on, are useless. Money drives the world. Or, if you are clever, replace "money" with "trade" so you encompass all of the trades: cryptocurrencies, direct trades, laws and social credits, data collection or the attention economy, and so forth. Yah so Curtis talks about what we are voicing for years now. But the explanation with trade makes a lot more sense and is easier to understand and do something about. I recommend this documentary! #tromlive

Now that the tromjaro train is working well and apps are scheduled, I will focus on videoneat but I want to add a documentary every day instead of scheduling them. Can be easier for me and more pleasant. I want to fix some stuff with tromnews and add more sources and manage the existing ones. I want to replace all of my videos from tiotrom.com with the peertube ones since they load a shit ton faster. Then I go back to trom.tf and add translations for the main page, descriptions for all of our tromcasts on videos.trom.tf + submit our instances to the official instance' list. And also test new apps. In the meantime I hope to record for TROM II next week. Depends when @Dima and @Sasha can do it ;). #tromlive

Follow almost anyone online! Facebook, Mastodon, Peertube, Youtube, websites...

!Tips and Help (social.trom.tf)
Websites:

Go to your Contacts (1) and copy-paste a website's url (link):

That should be enough and social.trom.tf should detect the RSS feed. If not, find the RSS feed of the website, usually adding "rss" or "feed" after the url as such: www.website.com/feed.
Fediverse:

You can follow and interact with pretty much any federated network: Peertube, Mastodon, Friendica, Diaspora, Pixelfed, etc. Same as above, copy the url of a profile and paste it into the contacts (2). For example to follow our TROM Peertube channel copy our Peertube channel ID from here:

It will look something like this trom@videos.trom.tf. Now copy it into the same contacts form (2).
Facebook:

You can follow public pages/profiles/groups. To do that, we need to grab the RSS of those. Use our rss.trom.tf/ tool for the job. Here's step by step:
Go to the Facebook page/profile/group you want to follow. Copy the ID (name). For example for our TROM Facebook page (that we don't really use) the url is: facebook.com/tromproject/ so the page name is "tromproject". Make sure you copy it exactly as it is in the url (with capital letters if there are any).
Go to rss.trom.tf/ and search for Facebook. You should see this (select Main Site):

Click "show more" and you'll have this simple block that is self explanatory:

Paste the Facebook ID into the proper form, and click HTML. Now you will see a new page with the RSS feed of that Facebook ID, as such:

Lastly, right click the MRSS button, then "Copy link location" (so you can copy the link of that button), and then paste it again into your contacts (2) as you did for any other contact.
All of this is a very fast and simple process in fact: grab a Facebook page/profile/group ID (name), create an RSS feed using our rss.trom.tf, and copy the MRSS link into your contacts. Done!
It is the same exact process for Twitter, Youtube, and pretty much any website that is not friendly enough to easily provide an RSS feed.
Therefore, using social.trom.tf/ + rss.trom.tf/ you can interact and follow pretty much anyone online, without having an account on Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, or even Peertube and the like. Take advantage of it!
