Your social data stays on your device. You own it, it's private, you decide what happens with it. This unlocks powerful local tools that shared servers can't offer. Since ActivityPub does not lock you into one format, we take full advantage. Same account, but the interface can change in a tap. Text feed, photo grid, video player. One identity, your rules. That's our goal, and we're getting closer every day.

Sotres, Asturias: videos.trom.tf/w/7wo6HXbkj86ATβ¦
Sotres is the highest village in the Picos de Europa National Park. A bit tricky to get here on the narrow winding road, but well worth the trip! Sotres is so beautiful that in 2024 it got an award from the princess of Asturias π It's also famous for its blue cheese and is the starting point of some spectacular hiking trails in Picos de Europa.

Really nice documentary about a scientist who made our understanding of tornadoes a lot better. I love to know about such stories of humans who are curious about how our world works.

The tech industry as a whole has gone so far off my moral rails that oil companies are starting to look like sensible organizations to me by comparisons. And I know how bad they are.

The Cares Trail, Picos de Europa National Park: videos.trom.tf/w/iyEMCZAfNjNZHβ¦
An amazing pathway carved into towering limestone cliffs high above a turquoise river, connecting two small villages in the mountains of LeΓ³n and Asturias. This trail makes you feel so small, yet contaminated with awe. We found goats, waterfalls, tunnels, and snowy peaks in the distance. A truly spectacular trek.

End of Tio's solo adventures - videos.trom.tf/w/krAqhhhwWYeREβ¦
This is it, my solo adventures have come to an end. It was a very interesting and useful experience to see how it is to live by myself in the motorhome. I saw many cool places but I was also very work-efficient and did a lot of work on our TROM projects. Overall, a great experience!

Tio Solo and the craziest offroad with the motorhome! - videos.trom.tf/w/35UnP9SG73Z8Wβ¦
Tio went for a month solo with the motorhome in the North East of Spain. This is how he coped with it π. This is also the craziest road we have taken our motorhome on, some 1KM climb via a 12KM dirt road. But at the end of the road it was Paradise. That was in Queralbs, more specifically the Fontalba parking.

It's making me think I should pay for an account, but $11 is too much. $3 maybe.
Really good documentary! I still think chronically playing video games is bad, but for some people can be a way to cope with problems and/or make friends, have a life...

in reply to Holos Social • • •How does the relay work, is it a shared relay, does anyone needs to have one relay?
What about the app, how does it work?
Holos Social
in reply to Dennis Nunes • • •The relay provides a stable identity and proxies requests to your phone. When your phone is online, it serves everything directly. When offline, the relay caches your public posts and queues incoming activities (follows, mentions, replies) until you're back. You control how long posts stay cached. You can use the shared relay at holos.social or self-host your own with Docker.

in reply to Holos Social • • •The app is a React Native app with a full ActivityPub server running locally on your phone. Your data stays on the device. You connect, you're on the Fediverse. You disconnect, your cached posts stay visible for as long as you decide. Nothing is lost, and you're in control.

ping as to hopefully get an answer to this rather important question.
Edit:
In Screenshots an "Export"-option can be seen (nextcloud and others, as I understand it).

The challenge is that federated posts are linked to your old identity (@you@old-relay.com). Other instances won't automatically recognize them under a new relay.
But since all your data stays on your phone, we could offer a migration feature: update all your posts with your new identity and re-sign them with your new key. They would then be rediscovered by other instances when you're online, as if published from your new relay.
This is doable and we'll work on adding it.

I didn't really think about the fact that my old identity will be tied to the posts, yeah I can see how that can cause issues with federation... On mastodon I often use the "in:library" search operator to search for posts I've interacted with before, it could be a post I liked or replied to in the past and this search operator helps me find it again. So in some ways I think it'd still be useful to have my old data even without an identity change, as long as it's searchable.

in reply to Holos Social • • •It is a "self-hosted" shard of Fediverse, isn't it? Like in, you are discoverable/contactable etc but it's not "I upload this data to a Masto instance", it's more like a "I keep my data on my device and the posts I create are saved on my device, Masto instance gets copies when my device goes online". Kinda like cloud storage where sync uploads data you have on your PC to elsewhere but this local data remains the "single source of truth".
