We are so close to fully finalize the creation of some very much needed packages for TROMjaro. We finished the packages for the TROMjaro Layout and Theme Switcher, and for our script fixes - tho needs to be tested more. Likely these days we will have a full suite of packages that are so needed for TROMjaro. For normal users it means that you do not have to manually update any of the scripts that we do/update/change. ;) - and for us it means easy and fast changes/updates.
This packaging is thanks to @Roma who is visiting me and on top of having a great time together, we also do these things :). Awesome human! 10/10! :)

We found some alternatives to contabo.com where we host our servers. Contabo is a cunt, to put it simply, forcing us recently to remove perfectly legal links and such. By the end of this year or beginning of the next we should start the move from contabo to another hosting. I'd like not to....but I am forced to. One particular provider seems quite good and a bit cheaper, we could expand our disk-space for trom.tf.
I am concerned with how to move it all when it comes to friendica or matrix....their databases are immense.....but will see when the time comes.

Here's an extraordinary story of how humans can help each other. No need to pay them. They will. Take care of humans, so we take car of us all. Ok, society?
Why are people still watching movies? Watch these real stories via documentaries if you want to watch something exciting, thrilling, mind-blowing, and so on. And REAL.

These days I am spending quality time with @Roma and when I have some time I fix our websites for mobile screens. So far I fixed most of them. Should be done in a few days time with the rest. Recently I fixed:
Not perfect, but good.
These days I'll also work with Roma to make a few packages for TROMjaro for our scripts Something I wanted to do for so long. If we do that I will be over the moon happy.
Next week I hope to start the work on TROM II again! #tromlive

Someone who wants to join our Friendica instance asked me if ours is blocked by other instances. Well...see folks!? How can I know!? On the fediverse any admin can block any instance without you and me having a clue if, what and when they do so.
I keep on telling you, this practice is ruining the fediverse as a whole. It is almost like burning down forests becasue you found some weeds.
We need a way to know who blocked what. Not only what my instance blocked, but what instances blocked mine.
However the best practice is not blocking instances at the admin level, EXCEPT when an instance is clearly full of spam-bots. Let the users decide for themselves what they want to block. There are many proposed solutions out there as to how we can deal with unwanted content, such as: disable the global timeline, shorter lifespan for remote items (so you don't really host any remote content), blocklists enforced by admins but that can be overwritten by users, or adblock-like lists that any user can easily apply for themselves.
Be smart, federated people! Think long term, not short term.

Kings and Queens are an insult to humanity. We are all humans. We are all important in our own way. We should work together and see each other as one species. Social classes, queens, bosses, rich people, doctors, celebrities....are all imagination. Human imagination. Some posses some skills (true), and we should focus on that (such as doctors), but it is mostly a sick game of labels in a messed-up society.
Wake up, reality is calling! #tromlive

I see on my fediverse newsfeed that so many people mention apple and a new iphone release. Is that time of the year (of half a year?), ha!?
Both apple and the people getting sucked into this retardation, are victims of a trade-based society that went berserk. Toasters with touchscreens, that's the society we live in. And humans call them choices and variety. Idiocracy 3.0. Cars with a different paint, chocolates in different shapes. Bless you humans, you are the laughingstock of the universe.
EDIT: If their official presentation ytb.trom.tf/watch?v=FT3ODSg1GF… does not feel like a parody to you, then something is wrong with you.
iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max coming soon. What lies beyond a traditional smartphone? Let’s find out. This is iPhone 14 Pro. It starts with the Dynamic Island, an interactive place that bubbles up alerts, notifications, and activities.Invidious

There is barely anything "useful" in new releases of phones compared to previous models. Especially if you look at how the vast majority of people use these devices.
Satellite whatever functionality is barely useful for a rare bunch of cases, for a tiny/minuscule amount of people who probably use proper equipment if they are so adventurous, not rely on apple.
I still have my samsung galaxy s7 with that fancy detector for your heartbeat and oxygen levels in your blood. My doctor told me to shove it up my ass because is not useful in any way.
Companies, like any merchant, try to sell new models and add features that are not useful, or very rarely used if ever, just to sell more shit...
like this
Yeah well the people in the comments may say some negative stuff about this, but the truth is most are flocking to buy it....
About that car crash safety feature...I think they just wanted some BANG for their video promo. Is there any research to show that such a system can save people's lives? If that was the case cars would have have this a long time ago. Like what data does it transmit and to where?? That weakly built iphone would disintegrate into a car crash anyway....gimmick!
In TROM II I made a compilation with such stupid things to show how there is no innovation...just eggs with wigs. Same shit, different paint. And they add these gimmick "features" because they need to sell more of their shit so they have to invent useless features...
Predictable...

A new TROMjaro ISO is out with integration for our trade-free library and videoneat. Access hundreds of trade-free apps and many hundreds of documentaries and courses, as trade-free of course. forum.tromjaro.com/t/tromjaro-…
We wanted to do this for quite some time and now we had the time to do it. And works quite well. Check it out! #tromlive

So this month I am focused on the software side of TROM. Towards the end I will get back on TROM II tho. And I will struggle to push my focus more and more away from the software to the content. Not that the software world isn't great, but it was never meant to be taking so much of the TROM space. And we've done a lot in that area, and what we have no is working great and we may even add new stuff.
But I truly need to focus on the content, on what TROM really is about! It is great that we have money to stay away from trading for almost a year or so. Ofc idk what we'll do after and any donations will add up to prolonging this time that we have. But I have now all of the resources I need to finish TROM II. And that's relaxing. #tromlive

I tried searching but I only found this: docs.joinpeertube.org/admin-mo…
Looks like there is no better tool. You might have to go directly into the database to look for patterns there that you can nuke.
@peertube any better ideas?

LUT: Fedora Silverblue 36 (disaster) videos.trom.tf/w/63GF5v7pQZ6PG…
I do not want to give a feeling like I am bashing all distros via this channel, but some are not very good in terms of usability. This one in particular was a disaster...however I am not bashing them just pointing out what they can improve. Watch and judge.
Fedora Silverblue is a big failure based on my usability tests. So bad that I wonder if I did not make any mistake and this distro is not even meant for desktop use. I hope I did not.videos.trom.tf
So I checked our tromjaro.com/apps/ library of trade-free apps to see if I need to replace any of the screenshots now that we greatly improved how we manage the theming on TROMjaro. Yes I have to replace the screenshots for some of them, which I'll do these days.
But you know what? Out of 650 or so apps, perhaps 50 or so cannot be themed or be fully themed. Max. And that's together with some flatpaks and appimages. So like I was suspecting, we can theme probably some 95% of all apps out there. Which is fantastic.
Keep in mind that our library consists of curated apps from the Gnome library, KDE one, flathub, appimagehub, the AUR wiki of apps, and so on. So it is a random sample size of so many kinds.
So yeah I am super happy! But I am also concerned that Gnome and those it influences, will try to break theming even further in the future. We shall see....

I installed TROMjaro on my mother's laptop. A very cheap, some 200 Euros laptop with quad core AMD cpu and gpu + 4GB of RAM. I found a laptop at the garbage bin a few months ago and managed to save some stuff from it, including 4GB of RAM. So I added 8GB of RAM on her laptop in total.
Anyway.
I wanted to say that everything worked PERFECTLY. I was impressed. Installation, setup, the new chaotic aur...everything. So that's fantastic! That's how I want TROMjaro to be. WORK! And be easy to use. Have access to pretty much all Linux apps from the software center, have auto system backups, even the files backup app that we use I could connect to a Borg server so fast...wow.
All in all, TROMjaro worked great on her laptop. Everything simply works.
And by the way if you have a fan-based laptop, clean it! This laptop was slow like a snail and after I cleaned it (wow the fan was full of dust) works 5 times faster. Feels like a new computer.

I have updated the "How we theme TROMjaro" article - starts here forum.tromjaro.com/t/how-we-th…
And the summary for the entire thing, here forum.tromjaro.com/t/how-we-th…
Basically we fixed the theming in Linux, at least for now, and at least for most of the apps out there: QT, QT5, QT6, GTK, GTK + Libadwaita, and Flatpaks (some).
Pretty much all distributions that I personally tested, and I tested a lot of them, fail to properly apply a system theme for most applications. Actually I know no one that does a great job.TROMjaro Forum

in reply to FlokiNET • •Sounds great, however I looked at the prices and are quite high. To give you an example we pay some 32 euros a month currently for a 10 core cpu, 2TB of SSD, 1 GB connection and 64GB of RAM. We need a lot of disckspace since we provide a lot of free services via trom.tf. And we use some 30-40GB of RAM usually.
I'd love to use a hosting provider like you, but unfortunately I cannot afford right now... :(

in reply to FlokiNET • • •Sounds good to me; cost isn't the *only* factor.
Do you provide any API access to management services? One thing Contabo is doing well is their cli tool for management. Even if there's no tool, having an API to script against is nice.

in reply to FlokiNET • • •The Contabo APIs allow you to provision, restart, etc, servers. They're adding DNS management (a big one, for me), vital for PTR, TXT etc if you're managing an email server. It's those sorts of interactions I'd really rather manage from a cli than a web interface.
Does the ssh solution help me here?
FlokiNET
in reply to Ruaidhrigh Featherstonehaugh • • •DNS is related towards your domain provider (except ptr however you set that only once realy no need for an api) and not your hosting (unless you operate it together)
For DNS entry we have an API (cpanel)

My point: would a simple solution being to have your Contabo instance moved to another country?
