Did great today with TROM II. Lots of work. Less than a week and the first part is done. :) - Excited to then move to finishing part 2. I only need to make this part coherent and edit it a bit. Most of it is already edited.

And by teh way the concept of appimages is fantastic. Now I realize how much it helps. I have a half a year old Kdenlive appimage that I use for the first part and that allows me to work on the video project for a long time without being concerned that an update may break something. Appimages are truly contained so in theory I should be able to use this appimage version for years without an issue. From what I know flatpaks are not truly contained. They share libraries and stuff. It is a reason why in TROMjaro we have integrated the support for appimages.

Except the heat all good with my life for now :) . I hope to continue like so. #tromlive

I think appimages are used for special situations like this. You normally wouldn't install every app as an appimage, but in situations like this where kdenlive breaks compatibility or something, then having an appimage can be real handy. I think most people use Tor browser as an appimage too since they recommend that, and it allows me to update the app separately from the rest of my system. torbrowser-launcher is the package I use and it automates this process for me.

Oh look another funny video on reddit rdt.trom.tf/r/funny/comments/v… - I mean is funny. I get it.

But considering you won't be allowed to post naked humans in the same CGI environment and have a similar funny scene, says a lot about our society. You can however post a scene where a kid is dead and then 2 adults are killed. Good job humans, you are obviously drunk as fuck.

The most "intelligent" species in the Universe, glorifying guns and violence, while vilifying nudity and sex. :facepalm #tromlive

WEBB first images revealing in like 10 minutes. Live NASA here youtube.com/embed/21X5lGlDOfg - sorry for the youtube link. Live streams seem not to work with Invidious. See some bits of reality folks, put your values in perspective. #tromlive

Yes I know the data from spacecrafts is sent over and not live-streamed, but 2022 you know...we should have GB connections on earth....to stream in full HD the presentation and connect with other parts of the world... In any case it was great to see the new images.

I cannot trust any company. Period. It is like trusting Coca-Cola to do research on the effects of sugar on health. Any company is entangled with whatever they are selling. This entanglement is too strong. Even if there are any companies that seem to be more fair, in the long term they will fuck things up. I've seen this countless of times. Also, overall looking at the entire world-wide society, even if you may get a few more "fair" companies, overall most are corrupted and fucked up.

So yeah, companies should not even exist in a saner society. We should have organizations that do things. Plant trees, make computers, software, whatever. Like we showcase here. But no trade involved.

As long as you trade this for that, you will become biased and corrupted. #TradeRuinsEverything #tromlive

Did a decent job today for TROM II. Adding some new footage to it. Can be a bit tricky to insert it now but am managing it so far. See how I have to make a gap like that in the project and work within that. It is not as easy as it looks like because you have to be careful not to unsync parts of the documentary.

And damn look at how many clips are in the project hahaha. Nuts. #tromlive

TROM II - we are starting to work on it again thanks to some recent donations! A huge thanks to Guil for donating 250 Euros and to Roma who donated 450 Euros. This, together with some money we were able to make ourselves, allow us to restart the work on the documentary.

I (Tio) made a blog post about all of it and I have added some samples from the documentary if you are curious to see them - here it is https://www.tiotrom.com/2022/07/trom-ii-rebooted-awesome-help/

I am excited! Let's do it folks! #tromlive

Daily reminder that blocking other instances or users, on a server level (so instance admins blocking them) is a very bad practice. It breaks the fediverse. It is not transparent at all so no one even knows when and how it happens; and it is a decision that can affect hundreds of thousands of users without them being aware of.

bad bad bad.

What is with this scared attitude that "Oh my god this account/instance posts horrendous stuff. Block it mister admin!" ?! Calm down folks. Learn how to take care of your online life without having parents looking after you. You can block anyone you want. In the long term this is a much better attitude, and you become a more stable-minded creature.

To cripple a network like the fediverse simply because some are too sensitive to block what they do not want to see, so they need others to block for them, is beyond retarded.

There we go...my rant....now how about you block me and my instance now!? :D - Maybe you feel too offended. But wait I will never know if I am blocked anyway....so sad and stupid.

Totally agree on that point. That's so called "information hygiene", it's a thing that is never been taught to people, but I would say it must have thing in our infomational century we just statring to live in. Of course the first fearful reaction of unprepared mind on the unpleasant information is to cancel/block/destruct/blow up entirely without any hesitation. I want to believe that people will become more sane after all, as well as you mentioned Tio - with the new more flexble tools to control own personal information streams.

I'm not sure if friendica's already having this ability, but it might be a good idea to give the block function for an entire instance to each user personally, not only admins. In this case users can decide only for themselves if they don't want to see the posts or contact the users of that server without affecting anybody else and actually making these decisions for all other users. This is respectful freedom I would like to see :)

in reply to Roma

Currently Friendica does not have such a feature...but it is something I would insist they would add :D . And you are right, we are faced with this digital world but we are not taught, or at least have discussions about how to manage this online life of ours. That's why many react immediately and not thinking about the consequences of censoring/blocking content and people. The school should be for such things....but it is not.
