Oh wow finally all of my files finished backing up to the online place :) . Millions of files. Awesome! From now on its only job is to sync all of my files to the cloud. So all of my files are now backed-up locally on a hard drive, then to another online location independent of any of our servers. Great!

I was also able to work on TROM II today a little bit. I am still not 100% done with the first part. Need to improve a few things here and there. Hopefully tomorrow I will work all day on it. Who knows, I may even finish it entirely tomorrow. It is not that much to do.

Then I have to decide if I wanna continue the project in the same Kdenlive one or create a separate Kdenlive project. It is already taking around 1h to open the project. So I'll have to think deep and well about it! #tromlive

I updated some stuff for tromjaro.com/ homepage to reflect the latest changes to TROMjaro. Had to record again a bunch of videos and such. But I think is worth it. Looks great! For example the laptop slider we have there, that showcases the wallpapers we use, now allows you to click any wallpaper and download in full resolution. From now on I plan to make a bunch of tutorials about a bunch of things TROMjaro related ;) and post them on the forum ofc.

I went to the museum today. Actually to two of them, in Barcelona. Very nice. Science museums of course. I am blown away by the diversity of creatures that are on this planet or have been. Look at this motherfucker - an elephant with a big tooth or lip whatever that is. Never saw that before:

It looks like is not real....

Anyway, tomorrow I am getting back to work on TROM II if nothing odd happens to the Kdenlive project...I will also share new sources for TROMjaro and TROM files downloads. So that you can grab our files from yet another reliable location. Speaking of that I am almost done with the online backups :D . Feels so great! I am so happy we can backup all of our files online too. Such a relief. #tromlive

Not all is nice and dandy with linux+xfce. XFCE is really great, but on my laptop (having Nvidia) my TROMjaro crashes every 2 or so days to the point of no return. I have to manually shut it down from the button. No TTY working. That's a super duper bad bug. :(

Especially when you work on a multi hour and massive documentary, while at the same time I may build a new tromjaro ISO, have so many projects, emails, millions of files to sync...it is a disaster.

It is not linux or xfce's fault, but nvidia or other manufacturers that do not provide proper support for their hardware. Same tromjaro works perfectly fine on other laptops I am testing.

So let's see. I reported the bug here gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/xfwm4/-/i…

Trying some of the tips the devs recommended. #tromlive

Yeah, this is an interesting perspective, because I think all OSes suck and have nasty bugs, not just linux. And you probably would've seen more windows bugs than most people since you were the "windows repair guy", haha. TBH, I haven't used windows for that long so I'm more familiar with linux, and all the time I did use windows was just watching movies and stuff, I didn't really did much on it.

Syncing several million files to the cloud for backup, a total of some 8TB, takes a while...not because of the speeds, but the so many files that are constantly updated. 7.3TB so far but sill a few hundred thousands files left to upload. They also get encrypted while they are uploaded so takes a little bit more than usual. But most files are already there, safe. Thanks to the people who donated money to TROM and allowed me to buy enough online storage space to backup everything to the cloud too. #tromlive

Nice video @Aaron videos.trom.tf/w/ezNWhP8fui8Cy… - damn so many TVs! :D - he also talks about trade, trom.tf and such. So #tromlive :)

Thanks to the amazingness of Frendica, I created a new profile that auto posts from Reddit, from the most awesome subreddits about nature. Basically I created an RSS feed via rss.trom.tf then a Friendica account that mirrors that RSS. There it is: social.trom.tf/profile/brp

Anyone on the Fediverse can now follow it! #tromlive

It isn’t specific to Fosstodon, this account will show the same way from all Mastodon instances. This display is the result of the way Mastodon chooses to display specific ActivityPub object types. Assuming its role as a microblogging platform, it probably chooses not to display the content of “Article” objects because it is expected to be longer than a “Note” for example.

I am working on some tweaks for TROMjaro to fix some inconsistencies and make it a lot more stable and sane. The layout may change, mind you, but you'll see. All for the better. The changes are not big at all, but important enough to make it a lot lot saner and more consistent. After all we want a TROMjaro that is very fast, very stable, very easy to use. i will post more updates these days about it and the reasoning behind it. Waiting for some feedback and testing from our small TROMjaro crew :). #tromlive

The 200 Euros a year campaign to back all of our stuff to the cloud. tromsite.com/donations/trombkp…

I already do local backups so this is not a must. But it would be fantastic to be able to also back up the stuff somewhere else. If this house burns down I lose most of my files. Including all of the TROM II documentary. I also do not have money to pay for this myself since I need to save as much money as possible.

These backups are for all of the stuff/servers we have, including trom.tf and the files that people store there (think nextcloud, friendica, peertube). Please, if you can, help out. :)

200 Euros is not a huge amount of money, so maybe we can raise it! :D

Did a lot of work on TROM II today. Now we are at 1h and some 2 minutes. Happy with the result. May take a break the entire day I want to go out with the telescope a bit tonight, to see some wonders of the solar system, and another wonder that's outside. The closest galaxy, Andromeda. 2.5 million light years away. You can spot that with a decent telescope so am excited to see it again.!

I think I will finish this first part of TROM II in just a few days. Pretty sure! Then I will start a new part, and idk how long that'll be. Will see... #tromlive
