Ok. Here are the issues:

1. Google is an Ad Company. So their incentive will always be to serve you ads, collect data. You are their customer. They do not simply make these tools to help you, and make it easier and more reliable to search for stuff. Ask yourself how will Google, and others, make money off of these "AI" tools now? It will be even more deceiving and sneaky.
2. In a sane society (not trade-based) these tools would be tested a lot. For accuracy, for what the outcome can be if billions of people use them, etc.. Did Google do that? I doubt.
3. If Google removes the search results and replaces it all with "AI" summaries and explanations, two things happen: Complete reliance on the biggest Ad Company for answering your search queries. And second, people will further drift apart from understanding that trust was a key factor in knowing if a source is valid or not. Like where is the info coming from. Now it will simply come from the AI God. Blackhole.

In theory to have access to a faster and more reliable way of finding information is a must in a world that is saturated with information. BUT the way it is done now it will make rich people richer, and the consumers more "consuming".

It is simply a normal evolution of a trade-based society. As it is in the offline, it is in the online too.

Same society, same shit.

I am so frustrated that pretty much everyone is blind in this world. So may loud voices about the "harms" of AI, but what is happening with this tool is TOTALLY NORMAL in a TRADE BASED SOCIETY.

TOTALLY NORMAL!

Companies wanna trade these tools, thus make money at all costs. Users wanna use them to trade, make money. Videos, books, whatever the shit.

The incentive is THE SAME. Big or small groups of people.

There is NO SURPRISE!

Totally normal.

No way we can fix this, or the billions of other issues, unless we change the structure of our society. Sounds daunting but only if you are thinking about it simplistically and in a sci-fi way.

Imagine if we start a Universal Basic Income scheme, also provide the needs of people as trade-free. Housing, food, healthcare, etc.. Free people from this society, so they can be less idiotic and less driven to make profit out of everything. This is a realistic way forward.

That's how you can try to change the infinite blanket of shit that everyone grows on top of.

It drives me INSANE that people do not see this simple fact, that people are consuming idiots in a trade-based society, so ofc they will abuse every tool for trading purposes.

It has been the case for thousands of years.

So yah, I am sick of those who speak about AI slop, destruction of the environment, climate change, etc., but NEVER mentioning the trade-based society that creates all of these.

It's like talking about lung cancer without mentioning smoking at all. And not connecting it with the Tobacco industry. And then hop, back to trade.

This is the world we live in....and won't change in any significant way unless we understand where our problems originate.

We will be AI-fucked.

We usually get registration requests for our Friendica (social.trom.tf) and a way to filter the bots out is to require that everyone sends the reason why they want to join our node before we approve or dismiss their request.

It was not very hard to tell if one is a bot since they would have generic messages. But recently we got variations of these messages:

i want to try friendica, and found out about trom.tf from this instance. looks like a cool place to start. already on fedi as @🎣 sylph in progress

I thought it sounds legit if they also let you check their other fedi account. And so I did and this time their profile is a long blabbing one but at least admitting that they are "a thirsty little LLM" (Large Language Model).

So yah....we are fucked. These people are ruining the internet. We use our limited resources for good purposes to provide people with a trade-free social network. And now these people are infecting even these little projects....

Awful...

EDIT: It seems the account was not an LLM despite saying so. The user "identified as a robot", whatever that means, and overall had a very weird bio. Please check for yourself:

A few people said I am a jackass for posting about this person, but considering their over the top weird bio where it says the account is an LLM, coupled with the fact that nowadays these "LLM" bots are infecting the internet, it is reasonable for me to think this person was a bot.

The conversation could have been simple: "Hey I know I said in the bio that I am an LLM, but I am not." and then I could simply ask them to register again. But the person blocked me and a few others started to bark in the comments. This is not how we can communicate and solve anything people...
