People who review Linux distros....here's what I think is important for a linux distro:

• Look and Feel. How flexible the desktop is and if it is consistent. PoP OS for example, looks great. Same is Deepin. Or Elementary. Even Plasma. But start installing QT/GTK apps and you'll see that they do not respect the theme at all. So they are very inconsistent. Gnome is also not flexible out of the box, so this is a minus. Plasma is too complex and can be overwhelming. So theme dark/light mode, and accent colors, are cool, and yet pointless when they can't change the theme for half of all apps...
• Apps installation and availability. Can this OS provide me with an easy way of installing apps? Do I have access to most Linux apps via the "software center"? Again, Ubuntu and the like, provide a nice "software center" but you won't find that many apps there. So that's a big minus.
• Dealing with files. People wanna click their videos, documents, photos and the like, and have them open with the proper app. How are these managing it?
• How's the internet experience. Like what browser do they use and such. Because the internet will be the most used part of a computer, most likely. And the internet is full of ads and trackers. Is the browser protecting the users from these!?
• Backups and stability. How stable is a system and how are they dealing with the backups. Is it easy to backup your system and files, then restore? With linux you kinda need a good backup and restore system.

So yah, Linux distros should showcase more than how pretty they are and that on the surface with their default apps. People who make such linux videos should look deeper.

I challenge them to look at TROMjaro - tromjaro.com. All criticism is very much welcomed. We are trying to make TROMjaro score very high on many such relevant points.

TROMjaro's theme and theme switcher works with like 95% of all apps, so it is super consistent. We have 6 layouts for the layout switch. We run XFCE so it is very fast. Speaking of that, Gnome may feel fast at first in a VM and looking at the RAM consumption will not tell you much anyway, but use Gnome for months and you'll see your computer slows down. I have done that.

Back to TROMjaro we also have flatpaks + aur enabled by default, alongside manjaro's repos. So apps' availability is as good as you can get. 1 place to install/remove stuff. No need to use a terminal.

We've also tested TROMjaro with a lot of files: video, audio, text, to make sure they open with relevant apps. And our browser blocks all ads, trackers and sponsored youtube content. Plus more!

Lastly we create automatic system backups before any important system updates.

At times I feel like I'm not in the mood for anything...I tried to go back and work on TROM II today but I got a headache when I saw how much footage there is to edit...will try more later on and these days, to get back to working on it. I also got trapped reading and watching nonsense content today, something that rarely happens to me. I got a taste of how it is to have a fb, or youtube account and the like. You really lose yourself in these and become a mindless zombie. I like being busy with life and the projects we have. TROMjaro, TROM II, VideoNeat and the like. Plus watch some cool documentaries and so forth. Have interesting discussions with others...But it is something at times you have to force yourself to do. Can be easier to feed your brain with nonsense and endless online content.

I also can't wait to write more books...I should really push myself to finish TROM II quicker so I can focus on other things too. But on the other hand I don't want to transform the TROM II work into a "job" with a deadline. So it is a bit tricky. I only have some 2.000 Euros and that's also stressful ofc. If I had a continuous stream of financial support then I could calm down more and such. But if you know you'll run out of money in a few months you feel the pressure of taking advantage of these few months and do a lot of work.

That's who we are, humans. Making ourselves busy and stressed for no reason at all. Just to trade this for that, despite an abundant world. Anyway....I hope to get myself back on the TROM II train!

I will wait 2 more days to see if we can do anything about Kdenlive so that I can work again on TROM II, after which I will wait some 24h to open my original project and try to fix a few things for the first part, then try to perhaps split the project so I can work on the second part.

Please whoever waits for the documentary, do not! :D - Honestly. TROM II Documentary will bring nothing new to the table. It is simply to make it easier and more engaging maybe for people to grasp the same message. The importance of the TROM project is its message: trade is the origin of most problems. And we have lots of books about that and we will create more. We will make more videos and tools. We already have some 30-40 websites that are about this new trade-free approach...

The documentary will be released eventually but I am doing a lot of other things for TROM in parallel.

You know at times I feel a bit "guilty" that I have not produced any new content for the past 2-3 years. But I have done a lot of projects. Started tromjaro.com and trom.tf. Massive projects. And improved the current projects like tromsite.com or videoneat.com. Also the trade-free.org and its directory. I've been trapped in the software world for the past few years. But I should not feel guilty about that. It is fine. I have created a ton of content for the past years and I have kick-started TROM II recently.

This is a life-long journey...I will for sure write a massive book about the Human Behavior, one about AA World Revised with a strong emphasis on how technology is deceiving and sold to us by the rich as the problem solver; a huge book about Science and so forth. We have a lot to discover and build. Whoever stays with me on this journey, it is a pleasure to journey with them.

I am also financially destroyed for the past 1-2 years and it is insane to even think I can continue from this perspective. A few people saved me and the projects for the past years and I do not want that to continue in this way. I'd like to see more people supporting us financially in smaller amounts. The projects do not cost more to keep them alive. Some 50 Euros a month all of them. But to make backups, improve them, maintain them, create new stuff, and so forth, it costs at least 1 human. Me. And Me needs food, shelter, internet, and the basic needs met. Else Me can't do anything and these projects will erode and not work anymore.

I've heard a bunch of people watching that "dont look up" movie that seems to parody our dumb society where no one cares about the threats facing our species, even when they are obvious, like a comet. Ok.

A few things:
- It is a movie and for one I cannot watch movies anymore: they are fake (of course), they are exaggerated, they are the same, they are not real, and they are made by millionaire actors, whatever "actors" means. Second, being a movie, it is seen as entertainment and brushed aside. People will forget about it.
- It is a Netflix movie - go there, watch it, then watch a thousand more movies; all retarded. So it is mixed with all of the nonsense.
- The movie budget is half the NASA yearly budged to defend the earth from such threats...if that's not ironic idk what is...
- People associate the "comet as an in-our-face threat" from the movie, with things like climate change today; but climate change is irrelevant. It is a byproduct of our trade-based society. Even if they fix climate change we have 1 trillion more issues. You'll see they will start to talk more and more about the plastic issue, the "forever chemicals", the medicine/drugs that we dump into the water streams for decades now, the batteries that will be disposed because of our "smart" and electrical future...it is endless

To see these millionaire actors who are the lube of our trade based society, the ones who sell and trade nonstop, and have distorted vales and become the role-models for all idiots of today; to see these giant companies like netflix making such movies; it is an irony of irony. Funnier and more sad than the movie itself.

My tiny hope for creating a different world, moving past this trade-based bullshit society, is shattered every time I see people talk about web3.0. The idea of integrating trade directly into the web. Humans used to trade sheep for shoes. The labor for clothes or whatever. Later they invented a currency to make more complex trades possible. They then got so retarded that they started to trade currency for currency.

And the motherfuckers invented the web, a digital space where things don't really exist. They can be replicated. If I have a photo or a book or whatever in this universe, I can share it with anyone and create endless copies.

Story of a Linux User, Forced to use macOS

Hi folks. I've been using various Linux distros since I was a kid and full-time (including for gaming) for the last few years. I was always inclined towards it for various reasons not the least of which is the ability to get things done quickly. Keyboard-shortcuts, scripts, etc. make my heart sing.

I'm now in my 30s and somehow I've gone my whole life without using a mac. I've never had one, my parents have never had one, and everyone I provide tech support to (it's inevitable isn't it?) has been on Windows. Then in 2021 I started a job that required encouraged everyone to use a macbook. I could choose not to but I thought, what the heck, this will be the year I learn macOS.

It went fine - I'm almost the resident expert now - but I've probably spent a combined few hours yelling at my screen.

Why am I posting here?

Well, learning macOS has given me a new appreciation for all the things Linux, Gnome, etc does right. There's a lot I'm newly thankful for. For example, alt + tab and alt + ` (backtick) exist and work as I expect every single time. Windows lacks alt + ` (backtick), and macOS's alt + tab eqivalent brings forward *all* the windows for that application not just the most recently one - clobbering whatever app I had on splitscreen. Oh, unless windows are minimized. Then it does nothing. It's infuriating.

The article I wrote has been popular with folks at my local tech meetup so I thought I'd share here. It's proven a source of laughter at the least.
