Some TROM.tf cleanup:

- We will remove sketch.trom.tf/, diagrams.trom.tf/ and office.trom.tf/ . These services already exist via our TROM Files files.trom.tf/ . No point in wasting server resources for the same services.
- We closed any new registrations for git.trom.tf/ . This service can be easily abused and we do not have the resources to deal with that. We accept new registrations but only for "friends". For people who we know or we can check to make sure they will not abuse the service.
- We will remove meme.trom.tf - Probably no one uses that little service anyway.

More cleanup to follow!

we make people work by threatening them with poverty, that's why its called wage slavery. Oh, and this doesn't apply to unpaid work like volunteering, so you gotta have a "job" where you trade or you're fucked. Well actually you don't even need to work much at all if you can trade some other way like through investments, so in the end it's not even about making people work but it's about making them trade and sell more consumerist shit to others, and destroy our environment in the process.

It is extremely unlikely that anyone has the time to finish any subtitles for the documentary in a week or so, before we release it. But I think it is totally fine to release the documentary together with proper english captions plus full transcriptions, so that after the release anyone can jump in to create subtitles.

We will make sure to have everything well organized in order for anyone to get involved collaboratively. Unfortunately we cannot find a proper collaborative tool for subtitling that is trade-free, so we will probably use amara.org.

We can say with certainty that the documentary will be fully released the next week. But we do not know the exact day.

The listing of sources for the TROM II documentary is done! They are categorized into Footage, Music and Sources. And there are a lot of them. Now the only thing left is to finish the transcriptions entirely. @Sasha, @Tio and @Rokosun are working on that. The first and third part are already done. And the rest will be done in just a few days time.

@Georgi @Alexio and @Roma are already working on the translations.

We will release the documentary before the end of this month regardless if we have any subtitles ready or not.

We've added a new service to our TROM.tf: TROM Translate - translate.trom.tf/


An alternative front-end for Google Translate, serving as a Free and Open Source translator with over a hundred languages available and text-to-speech.


We've tried LibreTranslate with self-hosted translation models, but it is very slow and lacks a lot of languages....for now we will stick to this Google Translate interface. This tool should be useful for those who will start to make subtitles for the TROM II documentary.

The transcription for the first part of the documentary is done. Thanks to @Sasha who worked so hard for these past days. She also finished the 3rd part but still needs a final check. @Tio made the transcription for the 2nd part, and @Rokosun is working on the last part.

Tomorrow the 2nd and 3rd part should be done.

We are already sending them to the translators, but we'd like to do so privately so that we do not ruin the documentary release for the rest, if we were to make them public. We plan to release the documentary later on this month, to give some time for the translators to translate.

Since this is a massive documentary it may not be enough time to translate it into other langues before the release, but it will for sure be translated in several languages in the following weeks/months.

TROM Meeting:


A bunch of wonderful humans who came to visit us. People who help this project, and people who are very good friends. So calm, so nice, so human.

A huge thank you to them all. Too bad we could not gather all of them for the meeting. But we will do more.

We mostly meet in order to have some good time together but also to work on some TROM stuff. We will try to work on the transcriptions for the TROM II documentary and a few other things, will see.

Looking forward to release the documentary in June. #tromlive

We already moved from Searx to SearxNG for search.trom.tf - let's see how it works. It does look a bit more modern and seems to work ok, tho we may need some time to properly tweak the settings to make it more reliable. #tromlive

Our search.trom.tf does not work very well lately, and today it was almost unusable. The package that we use from Yunohost has not been updated in many months. We were planning to switch from Searx to SearxNG anyway, so we may do that these days. Maybe even tomorrow. #tromlive

Also, I'm really surprised to see so many different languages here, never knew there are this many translators for TROM who speak such diverse languages. Anyway, I'm happy to see people helping out like this 🙂

Yup already fixed yesterday maybe the fix didn't update on your end :D. Thanks as usual! Yeah several translators came from the newsletter I sent. We have around 1k people subscribed to our newsletter, I guess some people still use those :).

Wow, what an amazing video! Seeing people help others like this makes me so happy 🙂

And it boggles my mind to think that all those good quality food would've gone to waste if it wasn't for organizations like this. 40% of all food produced in the world is lost in one way or another?! Now that is a hauntingly high number, we should try to reduce it as much as possible. Thank you Dima for finding such organizations, helping them, and shining a light on them through your videos.

It's indeed crazy how much food are wasted. Yeah about 40%. Interesting fact that 60% out of those 40% are wasted in households. That was huge discovery for me, i was sure that supermarkets and production facilities waste the most. Which was true some time ago, but now it's changed.

Finally the TROM II documentary is done and it was sent to the ones who took part in it for review. From now one there will be no change, unless they notice anything that is REALLY REALLY bad and needs to be fixed. Or typos.

4 parts, some 5 hours long. Soon we will make a post about it and about when we plan to release it.

I clearly say this in a way that would be more effective in sharing the vision of your project which I think is very important to highlight all things leading and maintaining unfair inequality, exploitation, resource and capital accumulation, attention economy (which is what I assume you are tired of just as me). It is your project anyway; that was just a suggestion. I'm already glad you're going to release the vids.
