The height of the hypocrisy of holding tight to your own culture and land is the fact that ALL inventions, research and human knowledge that is at the basis of any society, all of that comes from people from all around the world.

Without the British Isaac Newton we would not understand how objects move on this planet, maybe we would be unable to build many of the infrastructure of our modern cities.

Nuclear energy, modern cosmology, or GPS technology would not be possible without the US German immigrant Albert Einstein who studied in Switzerland.

Would we have telescopes or even the modern science without the Italian Galileo Galilei? Or medicine and healthcare without the French Louis Pasteur?

The Internet, gadgets, buildings and blueprints, discoveries and experiments, are all a mush of work being done by humans from all around the world, from different tribes. So it is astonishingly hypocritical and primitive to “hold onto your own tribe, your own culture” as if you did anything for it or it belongs to a particular group of people.

Ideas revolving around religion, family, sexual orientation, and so forth, have been changing and mutating a lot over the years. What was once prohibited in one culture has become the norm in the same culture, and vice versa. From women being allowed to vote, to gay marriage, or the separation of religion from state. In our book “Morality and Ethics” we showcase how the norms, traditions and what it was accepted as “normal” in the past, changed over millennia, from culture to culture.

Therefore any discussion about “our culture, language, traditions” should always be put under the powerful light of history in order to understand that these “things” are remixes at best, and will always be. This, I think, is crucial in order for us, humans, to be able to have relevant discussions about them, without being too emotionally entangled with them. To put everything into a historical, and realistic, perspective.

Perhaps instead of #ageverfication nonsense, those who want to protect the children should look at why these platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Youtube and the like are "bad" for them and everyone else.

Here's why:

They are TRADING PLATFORMS. Not video hosting platforms, not social networks. NO. People have to trade their attention (watch ads), data, or currency to use these platforms who make over 90% or more of their profits from these trades. Is like calling a Mall a Social Gathering Event Hall. It is not!

At least they should force these platforms to be renamed/re-labeled.

And you know what else? The harm/addiction of these platforms is not solely their incentive to make people trade more (more ads, more data trading, etc.) to keep them on the platforms is the fact that in this society pretty much everyone has a shitty meaningless life. If people were to be taken care of, and not have to trade all of their lives in a boring and stupid job, with them being worth only when they consume, then smarter and relaxed humans would give 0 fucks about these platforms.

When you are out and about, with friends, are not stressed about how to pay for your life, then why do you give much of a shit to post and scroll on these silly platforms?

How come I do not give a flying fuck about these platforms and what people post on them? Because I am busy with more relevant shit!

Wanna change something?

REPLACE.

Replace these trading platforms with trade-free ones like Friendica, Peertube and the like. If you are a government, support them!

Replace the meaningless life of most people with meaningful ones. Give people their basic needs as trade-free. Via an UBI or trade-free basic services. This way you don't even have to support those trade-free platforms. People will! The same people who do it now, but who also have to struggle to have a day job in order to keep their work on these platforms going. Imagine having millions of people able to get involved and change this world!

Free people from the Trade-Society!

This way you don't even have to fight with these big corporations. Let them fade out! Let them die.

Have you heard of the vulgar-latin? That’s Catalan.

In other words a “vulgar”, non Latin, or “bad” Latin language. Because, of course, all languages are mixes of previous languages. We wrote a 600 pages book about the evolution of languages where we explain in detail how there is no such thing as Spanish, Catalan, English and so forth. Languages are in a constant movement and are comprised, just like those “sarmale” food, of many kinds of flavors. Catalan, French, Romanian, Italian and so forth, are languages that have evolved from Latin. And Latin evolved from other language(s).

To my Catalans readers, to put it simply, the Catalan language (and this applies for every single language) is this:

ONE:

A “bad” version of another language that over time mutated into its own language.

By “bad” I mean people will start to speak an official language (like Latin) in different ways (accents, new words, new ways to write it, etc.) and in the beginning this is considered as “bad” since it deviates from the “rules of the current language”.

But this “bad” will become the “rule”, just as the “rule” was also “bad” at some point. That’s how languages evolve.

TWO

A language that stole words from other languages. Directly, shamelessly, and constantly.

Do you know how Catalans call the “Internet”? Well, “internet”. Inter-Net. Borrowed from the Americans.

Catalan, like all languages, is full of these stolen words, expressions, and meanings.

THREE

A language that is vastly different from its own origins.

The Catalan that was spoken hundreds of years ago is vastly different from the one spoken today.

That’s the case with every single language.

I did not have pain, or much at all, for the past 1-2 weeks. I have no clue why, but wow life feels damn different. I will continue my medical investigations into this but the body can be such a mystery even now when we have so much technology and knowledge.

But well. Fantastic.

Soon I will meet with the most fantastic friends on Earth to see the eclipse on the 12th of August. I am focusing on organizing that. I want to make sure we can see it through my telescope, but we can also record it. This week am doing more tests. The Sun will be super low for the eclipse - 20:30 Madrid time is the full eclipse. And 21:00 is the sunset. We may miss it if we are not at the right location...

Not long ago Spain also won the Euro Cup – the biggest sport competition in Europe. Football that is. After the game people went into the streets to celebrate. The Spanish flags on display, honks, partying, “We won!” people were screaming!

What is interesting is that these are two of their best players of the tournament:

Yamal and Nico. Yamal’s father is a Spanish immigrant from Equatorial Guinea, and his mother is Moroccan. And Nico’s parents had to cross the Sahara’s desert to immigrate to Spain “illegally”.

Also two of Spain’s best defenders are called Robin Le Normand and Aymeric Laporte – not a fucking chance these are Spanish names! These guys are born in France.

Speaking of France, this is their football team:

No, this is not an African team, it is the “french” team. Most of their players have African roots. In fact when they won the World Cup in 2018, 87% of their team was made up of immigrants (them, their parents, or grandparents). And historically this has always been true for France.

Even their most iconic player Zinedine Zidane is of Algerian descent. His parents immigrated to Paris and he has described himself as a “non-practising Muslim”.

Lastly this is how the other finalists of Euro 2024, England, would look without immigrants:

Overall the African immigrants were some of the best players of this Europe football competition.

Keep that in mind!

So when their supporters shout “We won!” waving their nation’s flag, who is “we”? Who is Spain, France, England?

Food and Football, two very culturally grounded things in Europe, are all made up of bits from other parts of the world. And so is the case with every sport and dish from anywhere on this globe.

In the same sense that there are many tribes who speak the same language but have vastly different cultures, there are tribes with totally different languages, but their cultures are very similar. I was born in Romania and my friend Roma was born in Russia. Romania and Russia look so alike culturally that it is quite eerie. The buildings, food, attitudes, even the babushkas. But the languages are vastly different.

For example we call this “traditional Romanian food” as “sarmale”:

My mother always makes it for all of the important Romanian holidays. If you search online for “Romanian national holiday” plus the word “food”, you’ll see this dish as the main one. So this is a Romanian dish!

Well that’s what I thought. Turns out that Roma knows this food very well and he calls it “Голубцы”. He says it might be Russian. But Wikipedia tells me that is a traditional food from the “Ottoman cuisine”.

But the fact is that this “sarmale” food is not a “thing”, but a “flavor of things”. Some “sarmale” are made with meat and rice, some just rice, some with cabbage leafs and some with grape leafs. Different condiments. Cooked differently. They differ today from tribe to tribe, and even within the same tribe.

So is this “sarmale” food Romanian? Russian? No. Nothing is.

Same as TROM Books, but in a different format. Makes more sense to have these pieces of content in this web-format rather than a PDF like the books were.

I am starting with an article about this project: TROM Articles.

But the main release is a massive article called Culture Cancer that I've been working on for the past year. This is an in-depth article about why groups of people hate other groups of people, and why culture can become cancerous. From Israel and Gaza, to Nazis and racism, I dissect this complex topic in a very simple to understand way.

I learned so much while doing this article. I learned to not hate even on those that are absolute monsters, because you get to learn where their hatred comes from. I learned how to communicate better with others and try to solve conflicts, even between friends, partners, family. I learned about the complex situation in Gaza or why the Nazis were such monsters. I learned about what cultures are and why variety is something to celebrate not differentiate. Learned about immigration or where racism comes from. What makes someone a terrorist? Or a white nationalist? Why are people putting themselves into groups and they hate on other groups of people?

A lot to unpack for such a complex topic, so I hope you get to learn a lot too. The article is full of links/sources, videos, documentaries, a course about culture, and even a quiz.

It makes us saner, smarter and more relaxed if we are educated. This is why I want TROM Articles to be a valuable place for that.

At times we may write smaller articles, but from time to time I want us to dissect important topics like the one above, or AI, or how we see the world, science, so much to learn about!

I am going through a lot recently, so I need a bit of time to be able to create new content. But I love doing this. Actually without it, I feel like I will collapse into a black hole. We may reboot TROMcast too, to discuss this topic. I may create videos as well. Let's see. I will let you know if/when these will happen.

I also feel forced to mention that it would help me so much if there would be more people supporting TROM financially. We ask for 5€ donations a month if possible. I feel sick even mentioning this, but since recently I was abandoned by my best friend, my partner with whom I was a team with and helped each other in all ways, then facing the world alone, physically, mentally and financially, has become a big fight for me now. I am asking for real donations not like "if you donate you get this". Everyone is treated equally and asked for a small and equal amount of money.

I hope I can make it, in all ways. Or at least in some ways. I have a lot to say and do. I want to create a Trade-Free Event and open the doors for more collaboration with TROM. Let's see where this goes.

Of course this is an issue with our trade based society 100%. How? Easy:

1. The incentive to do harm in this society is quite high. For profit, for power that also leads to profit, for the fact that tribes and people are divided into groups trying to outgame the other groups. Like Iran has an incentive to hack USA, USA has an incentive to hack China, Russia has an incentive to hack the EU, and so forth. They can get sensitive information, blackmail, etc.. This is a global situation that has trade (as a practice) as the director of motives. Making people do what they do. Tribes hold onto their own resources, exploit other tribes, etc.. And so fighting with each other is natural.

If we lived in a society where trading was not a necessity and provided for all equally, we would have no reason to have tribes with borders, exploit other tribes, fight against each other when we are all in fact a big tribe, the human tribe.

1. The people working on a lot of open source software struggle to work on it since they also have "day jobs". They have to TRADE to survive. Imagine people had access to their basic needs trade-free, via an UBI or whatever. More time to focus on creating secure and better software, more people who can do that. Less of those incentivized to do harm and insert backdoors.

Overall it is a cancerous trade society where humans are livestock and wolves. Consuming and being consumed.

The only sane way out of it is to HELP PEOPLE DETACH FROM THE TRADE SOCIETY. So they can be people and focus on RELEVANT STUFF.

Else it is a game of those who want to exploit and those who try to stop them. Endless....
