I plan to release a new TROMjaro ISO these days. A big release. It will be a Beta release for now, with the chaotic-aur out of the box. I need to release else I lose tracks of the changes I've made and need to detail for the current TROMjaro users....
Once that is done should be less work for me on TROMjaro. I have been so trapped into the software world lately, and I'd like to be less so. Probably the next month I won't be very productive, but I want to also have some outside time. My dear friend @Roma is visiting so I'd like to spend some time together. Talk about TROM-like subjects and more! :)
I try to feel less guilty about not working on the TROM II documentary lately....but should be ok. We can support ourselves for the many months to come, if we spend no more than what we normally do (basic - food and such). So I should have time to finish it and also enjoy life while doing that.
But hey....TROM is alive and well. And we still work on stuff! #tromlive

I have contacted the EFF in regards to our case with Contabo.com.
I thought to give it a shot. It is incredible how the hosting company can force me to remove a link from a service like Nitter, which is a proxy and does not host any files on our server. It is the most harmless of them all. If they can do that, they can remove anything from our servers....and they do not listen to my arguments at all. Not even a bit. Like talking to robots.
Awful...

After I asked nicely the hosting company to explain me what laws forced them to force me to remove a Nitter (proxy) link form bird.trom.tf, they said:
we don't have to have a legal debate, because I don't think there's a lawyer sitting on either side right now. It is also completely irrelevant: We don't want our network to be affected, by repeated complaints. We are allowed to protect our reputation, and that is what we are doing here. Besides, it's perfectly clear that you can't use someone else's copyright.
Yeah....haha....you can't talk to these people. Now I am convinced that if anyone makes any sort of complaint and say "Ohhhh trom.tf is distributing spam and copyrighted content!!!" they will force us to take down any URL/website....this is disturbing.....
If anyone knows a cheap hosting provider that may be a bit less awful than contabo please let me know....

So because they don't have a lawyer they just go with every complaint they receive.
Just... Wow...
And protecting their reputation? Don't they see that they damage it by enforcing complaints without legal basis?
And copyright? Really? When it's about a proxy service?
Just 🤦🏻♀️

Exactly what I told them....
Yeah if open source apps get traded, they will go downhill like everything else. Saw many examples of that, and we will see more and more. Humans seem not to realize that if you trade something, you will (eventually) ruin that something. So yeah...pay for Open Source apps is a very bad idea. Support the projects, yes. great idea. But paying, again, bad idea. Bad incentive for the developers and the ones buying. You'll see nonsense features and stupid freemiums.
Anyway...

The donate button is a good thing I think, but its not good if users are forced to pay. Paid apps are not very common in FOSS, its usually proprietary software that does it, but with the implementation of systems like this maybe more and more FOSS apps will do it. #TradeRuinsEverything as always, if developers can't make it in this society without trading their work then what can they do?
At least Flathub is making a separate repo for paid apps, so it can be disabled on Tromjaro.

Here another demo, this time with the upcoming ISO - default TROMjaro quick change into Linux Mint or MacOS, or something else. :) - see how easy it is? And consistent across pretty much all Linux apps.

We managed to successfully integrate the chaotic-aur and our theming work....works great! We still need a bit more testing! But so far TROMjaro is, in my view, amazing. :D

Another distro that I have tested. MX Linux. File support - great! Apps support - bad! The rest you can see in the video.
The "gaming" cult ytb.trom.tf/watch?v=4mgePWWCAm… is just one of the many sub-cultures pushed by the trade-society with their trader minions who make morons believe that they need xK screens, super expenssive mics, cameras, chairs, RGB lights and all of that shit, and they play retarded games and stream online. It is a marketing trap mostly.
The tech-cultism sponsored by the tech-ads.
Nothing against "gaming", although I suspect is many times a reaction to the boredom of life in this society and to being hypnotized by ads.

We'd love to sync the fonts from gtk to qt. But this is what QT outputs as Ubuntu Condensed, 13:
@Variant(\0\0\0@\0\0\0 \0U\0\x62\0u\0n\0t\0u\0 \0\x43\0o\0n\0\x64\0\x65\0n\0s\0\x65\0\x64@(\0\0\0\0\0\0\xff\xff\xff\xff\x5\x1\0\x32\x10)
How can we transform that font name and size to such a value? If anyone can help out we would be super happy to fix it.

I think that Ubuntu Unity videos.trom.tf/w/x2ZpopH66DPKR… was one of the best Desktop Environments. Modern, sleek, useful. Global menus, HUD....done right! Really unique. Plus workspaces...the best and most intuitive workspaces I've ever seen. Too bad it is not really that well maintained from what I know...
We bring some of the stuff in TROMjaro, like global menus and HUD. And the panel positions and such.
However despite Unity being really awesome, XFCE is a lot better since you can tweak pretty much anything to it. I wish XFCE had a sane workspace tool....and some basic animations.
Anyway I agree with @Nick @ The Linux Experiment mostly. Unity...I loved it back in the days. It made me switch from Windows to Linux.

I am told by the hosting provider:
There are new changes in Germany regarding copyright violations that forced us to remove all domains from our network that are providing protected contents.Either you provide for us and every visitor the declaration of consent of the right holder to each individual product or its confirmation that you are the right holder. Otherwise, we will be forced to remove this website. This comes also in action for redirections, quotes and shared posts.
People from Germany, how true is this? Sounds too extreme to me.
