Rebooting TROM! These are our goals if you can help:
We can increase the storage space for TROM Files up to 50GB for each user. We can start a new video series, bring back TROMnews, make an app for VideoNeat, and more.
We only need a minimum of help. A handful of people willing to donate 5 Euros a month.
Since we do not bullshit you with "you send us money and we will give you a special treatment" then it is harder to find people to help us since everyone is used to being "rewarded" for their help.
But we want to keep everything that we do trade-free for EVERYONE.
We could easily say "If you donate we will give you more storage space on TROM Files" or more advantages for any of our services.
But we NEVER did that, and NEVER will.

We need help with our 200 for TROM Campaign - tromsite.com/donate/ - we have a bit over 40% of the needed support. We only accept 5β¬ a month donations to not have to rely on a few individuals donating more money. We need to make this sustainable.
Unfortunately the support over the past months has dropped a little bit. So if you can, please support us.
On the same page you can see what you are supporting. We hope this year to bring new projects to TROM, although it is terribly difficult to do so when you can't even get the minimum support needed to run the current projects.
We have been resilient since 2011 so we will not give up, but the ones who see value in such projects need to support them at least a little bit in order for these projects to survive.

Our chat.trom.tf (Matrix/Synapse) has become very difficult to manage - growing database, not an easy way to prevent bots from registering, or others from abusing our service.
For now we have closed the registrations and only accept them via requests. We have 460 users but we are thinking to perhaps shut down the entire service this year.
Too much work considering anyone can make trade-free accounts with matrix.org or other providers....
We will keep everyone informed about our future plans.

I hope they can add encryption to the chats...but on the other hand if anyone gains access to our server and is able to read that "text file" in the backend, we are screwed anyway since we host a lot of services on or trom.tf. Including Friendica which is not encrypted....
So yes, I do prefer an encrypted chat, but things must be put into perspective. Our Nextcloud instance at trom.tf already provides encrypted files/folders for all users, so at least we have that.
