We bought a microscope but I was not very aware as to what to look for so I will return and buy a better one.

But here's an interesting thing I realized while watching this some scientists talking about microscopes and how to choose one: I love watching these videos and I retain the info very quick. I know what is important for a microscope and what to look for. But if I try for a few minutes to imagine that I NEED to learn these for an exam/school, so to watch the same videos from that perspective, I feel like puking. And I can't remember much.

That's the effect that school has on all, or most children. Forced learning sucks big time for learning purposes.

Yeah.

So true.... Education shouldn't be forced down our throats, we know that's not the best way to learn something and yet we're fine doing that with our kids.

This guy man...

He bitches about the awfulness of these ad networks and the fucked up trade society, but he does not have the incentive and curiosity to try the fediverse. I contacted him several times. If he is aware of the fediverse but refused to give it a try or he was not willing to join, and then he joins Threads .... then he is lost and fake.

If you can't fucking change your "social presence" from ad networks to proper decentralized networks, despite you talking all about how we can change the society and how bad these billionaires and companies are, maybe you need to look at yourself first.

People who bitch about these companies but still use them despite there being better free alternatives, are idiots.

I am sorry if the guy is not aware of the fediverse, and I'll take my words back if so. Else, fuck off.

TROM II documentary talks about the fediverse quite a bit. We mention Friendica, Mastodon, Peertube and the like. Plus we promote FOSS. The documentary is a stab at today's society, but not a deadly one. It is a positive documentary in the end.

If you care about the fediverse (and may other important things), go watch this documentary and please help us spread it.

It is freely available here https://www.tromsite.com/documentaries/trom2/

TROM II: A Message to the Aliens (documentary) was exclusively released on @PeerTube . You can watch it here videos.trom.tf/w/p/fVpfZ9VfWrW…

Please help us spread it more, so we also showcase to people that Peertube is not just a "secondary" video platform. #tromlive

Didn't I say for like 2 years now that even the fediverse can be "monetized" and go downhill fast? Look help.instagram.com/51523043730… - Facebook and Zucky are on a mission to prove me just right.

How do we use this information? We use the information we collect for Threads for the purposes described in the Meta Privacy Policy, including to provide, personalize, and improve Threads and other Meta Products (including seamless personalization of your experience across Threads and Instagram), to provide measurement, analytics and other business services (including ads), to promote safety, integrity and security, to communicate with you, and to research and innovate for social good.

Fun! When I scream and scream and scream that eventually trade ruins everything, and nothing escapes...some people think I exaggerate. 'alright...

Watch our documentary where we talk about these tromsite.com/documentaries/tro…

!Friendica Admins I have some 4 scheduled posts but I see this message in the admin "DelayedPublish" . "Message queues 39092 - 4"

I am using Friendica 'Giant Rhubarb' 2023.01 - 1502

Is there any way to fix this?

EDIT: It seems some posts went through....so maybe it is just delaying that's all.

I was gazing today at some of the books that we have tromsite.com/books and I was watching bits of the TROM II Documentary. I think I can retire now. I think I've done a fuck ton of work. And yet I feel like I want to do more....

I don't care if I sound cocky because I know my place in the universe and I cannot be like that, but TROM is a fucking important project. The effort that was put into those books, at least the main ones, is phenomenal. The writing, the review, the proofreading, the design. And recently the effort that was put into TROM II. That's a fuck ton of work. I can die now. I don't care, I think I've done more than possible considering that for the past years I got very little financial support.

I am going to send a few more emails today about TROM II, but at end of the day I don't care. I am so proud of what I've created over the years, and so proud of everyone who helped with these projects.

Anyway :)

In the end I think its best when we create things just 'cause we want to, out of pure passion comes the greatest of works 😉

I started to write a book about The Internet. I wanted to write an article for my blog but this is a big topic and already I wrote a lot. It's been a few years since I wrote a book....and will see if it is a bit difficult to do so I'll post it as a blog post. But it will also be about the fediverse, alternatives, and why the Internet sucks so bad today. Will see but feel passionate to write about it. #tromstuff

I am not a developer. But I do help with testing and debugging as much as possible. I am confused by your first comments about "my identity" and such. But anyway. If you find any bugs please report them to Peertube's Github. I am doing the same. The developers are doing a ton of work and for the past months implemented a suite of wonderful features. You found a bug with the language filter, I suppose they should be interested to fix it if you report it.

Not much else to say. I just like Peertube and use it a lot. It works really great, but as with any piece of software it cannot be perfect.

in reply to Tio

I don't really have an account on Peertube specifically but I still follow some Peertube channels from my Mastodon account and also on the Newpipe mobile app. So while it may be true that Peertube lacks a bit in discoverability features (like the english filter not working), in my experience its pretty usable once you find some good channels to follow. And you don't even need a Peertube account for any of it, so its definitely a different experience than ytb.

@Rokosun @Tio @PeerTube @YunoHost That is true, its so close to being there for the average user, but still too far away to draw creators over.
in reply to anubis2814

@anubis2814
I agree getting creators over is the hard part, that is hard to do when most of them directly or indirectly depend on Google to make their money. But there are also creators like @tio who make good quality videos & even massive documentaries that he then just releases on Peertube for free, so for creators like that who don't do it for money this is a great platform (tho I know they're rare).
in reply to anubis2814

I do not see why "creators" would not use Peertube other than "they cannot make money there because they do not reach many people". As @Rokosun said I am primarily and for the past years only on Peertube. I have just released a 5 hours documentary only on Peertube. We have over 70 video casts there and hundreds of other videos. I do not see what would "prevent" me from using Peertube. It is so much faster, cleaner, and saner than youtube.

@anubis2814
Also Newpipe allows me to watch and subscribe to both YouTube and Peertube channels, which is pretty cool because then you get to make use of both platforms in one unified interface without sacrificing on either of them. So I guess an app like that is probably more appealing to casual users.

Man what an awesome documentary you made! 🙂 During my earliest days with this project I remember that donation campaign video you made for TROM II, at the time you expected it to only take 1 year for you to finish the work 😄 But you did a lot of other stuff during that time so I understand why it took so long, we even made some dramatic changes with TROMjaro to make it really unique and user friendly, so happy I was able to help you with all that :)
in reply to Rokosun

And in regards to the color correction for the documentary I kinda agree with the comment below that the interviews seemed strangely dim to me, I noticed it when first watching but then ignored it thinking it must've been a side-effect of that pitch black background - which I think is kinda true. I feel like a lot of your work would've been easier if you guys just used a green screen instead, that way you could just replace the green screen with a pitch black background during editing.
in reply to Rokosun

I will also try to promote this documentary whenever I can, to try to reach more curious minds around the world 🙂 For me even just watching some parts of it still gives me goosebumps, its that good! 😍
in reply to Rokosun

A greenscreen could not have worked. Would have looked unnatural.
in reply to Tio

Yeah maybe, IDK because I haven't done any video editing myself 🤷

Also this:

> Roko is doing a marathon screening of the documentary for his family.

LMAO 🤣

I take some stuff back that I said about 4k screens. So it seems like the way I was scaling up my 4k screen in XFCE was via the Display - Scaling. It seems that's not going to work well. You have to do it via the Appearance - Settings - Window Scaling. Basically I was comparing a FullHD resolution with a 4k that was scaled up to look more like the FullHD resolution since 4k is waaay to small. And so I noticed no difference between the two.

However using the Window Scaling I do see that my 16inch 4k screen with a 4k resolution is a bit sharper than the FullHD. But I emphasize the "a bit", a lot! It is really not much difference. So I still call 4k screens bullshit. Unless you have a huge screen.

Also XFCE does not deal well with the scaling, things look messed up.

in reply to Tio

I am very happy using XFCE4 with a 43" 4K screen. The dot pitch is similar to a typical 15" laptop, so I don't have to mess with any sort of scaling.

43" is more or less the smallest size you can get a cheap 4K TV at. But you do have to deal with HDMI, since TV sets lack DisplayPort, and there may be various other annoyances and settings to deal with.

That said, I do use some amount of scaling in my web browser. The amount of scaling depends on the site, but usually the default 100% feels too small.

I'm also kinda curious about diving and such, but I also probably have some kind of thalassophobia so IDK if I can do it, lol 😅 And reading how you almost had a panic attack doesn't make me feel any better, I've always had anxiety issues growing up.

And I hope to write more about TROM II, it is definitely one of the most fascinating and inspirational documentaries ever, it certainly deserves more attention than its receiving now.

in reply to Rokosun

Yeah well the thought that you have lots of water on top of you it is a bit tricky :D - however you have everything you need to be ok there underwater. If it wasnt for my stomach issues I would have been ok. It turns out I probably have GERD, which is one of the health issues they ask you about before you dive. If you have that you should not dive. Or do a special consultation with a doctor before. GERD is the inability of the stomach to close properly and the stomach acid goes out your food-pipe and you can get intoxicated (breath it) and that can fuck you up seriously. Plus it is uncomfortable as hell.

Anyway, the world under the water is so cool. I swear. I can close my eyes and imagine diving and it is such a great feeling to have. So doing it for real it is so bloody cool. I plan to dive more but need to see a doctor soonish.

Thank you Medardo for becoming a Patreon supporter!

It is difficult to get any volunteer donation support for TROM, maybe because many people are not aware of the project, or they already support other projects, or may be because we are honest and do not provide any "perks" that would transform their donations into "subscriptions" and people may be more used to getting something in return for their financial support. But what they always get, is TROM with its many many materials and projects.

So, please, if you can support us, do so here https://www.tromsite.com/donate/

It is so important to be able to support projects like TROM in a society where they are so rare or non existent. #tromlive
