trom.tf is in the making! Today I did a fuck ton of work...and I didn't even go out at all haha. But the website is taking shape. I also built a super cool page for the Friendica instance to showcase what is capable of. I am doing it for all of our services, but Friendica was probably the most time consuming to create because it is so awesome :). Maybe I'll finish it in 2-3 days :D. Oh and the super human @Alexio uploaded over 600 VideoNeat trailers to our peertube instance for the past 2 days....and he renames them all (the titles) and categorize them, and adds links to their description to VN....damn. Amazing! So we have around 1 thousand videos on our instance already hahaha. The server is doing great. #tromlive

Hey Federated people :) - if you are not aware, we have a page on the Fediverse social.trom.tf/profile/trom that will get a lot more active from now on. So make sure you follow it.

We created a ton of stuff since 2011 and we are creating a lot more. A new documentary coming out, more books more videos, more tools. And we share them all there.

We curated hundreds of trade-free Linux applications, we curate documentaries, lectures, movies, news, videos...and we post them on that page.

So make sure you follow and share it :). In a week or less we will release a new mega-project of trade-free awesome apps/services for everyone ;). #tromlive

I think I am done with tromsite.com. Replaced a bunch of links. Of course I need to do the tools page, but that's after I do the trom.tf website that will host all of our new trade-free tools. @Alexio is helping a lot - he adds all of out VideoNeat trailers on our videos.trom.tf :) - hundreds and hundreds of them + edits the title and description so you get a link in the description to VN where you can watch these documentaries for free. We did a lot. And we are almost done. I reckon in a few days we should release trom.tf, the TROM dot Trade-Free project, a precursor to tromland.org :). As soon as we release we will do a TROMcast on videos.trom.tf :) - lets test the live! Then I need to focus a bit on tromjaro and add a few apps (around 100) to our curated library, and TROM II baby! Lets finish up with the recordings with Dima, Sasha and Aaron. #tromlive #trom2

TROM Videos page updated tromsite.com/videos/ - now we have the latest 3 videos on top, and then the playlists as before bellow that, for each video category we have. All is automated now. Meaning: when @Aaron for example makes a video, he uploads it directly to our Peertube (videos.trom.tf) and it is automatically posted on our trom videos page. That's how it should be! Great! moving on with the migration! #tromlive

Searx is DONE! I managed to make two themes on top of the logicodev ones. So logicodev is the TROM light theme, and logicodev-dark the dark TROM theme. Both look awesome in my view. Give them a try here search.trom.tf/ :) - So now, the only one to tweak a bit is Peertube. Wow, just one left. I shall do it tomorrow ;). #tromlive

So I finished up with Friendica theming and pretty much everything ;). I made several themes: Blue, Red, Purple, and Green. All with light and dark variants. You can see them all here social.trom.tf/photos/tio/albu… and download from here drive.tromsite.com/s/oQE85pzJd…

Perfected a bit the friendica themes, but too tired now. Need to have a closer look tomorrow and then quickly make a few color variants. That's my mission tomorrow. Plus change/edit the text for friendica - like the about kinda sections. And tips for new users and such....in time to also improve the performance of Friendica. Hope to get some help with that from other friendica admins or dev :P.

- Lufi 100% done.
- Nextcloud 100% done.
- Etherpad 100% done.
- Friendica close to being done.
- Peertube needs a few theme adjustments + to deal with the text + look over the settings a bit one more time.
- LibreQR I need to fix a small, 1 min thing.
- Searx - I need to look more into theming....maybe I can do it in a more sustainable manner + a few theme fixes + to do the dark theme if possible.
- Bibliogram 100% done
- RSS Bridge 100% done
- Diagrams 100% done
- Framadate 100% done

So yah, basically Friendica, Peertube and Searx need a few more tweaks. Then I can make the trom.tf website. #tromlive

Done! I am done with customizing and theming all of our trade-free services. However I need to go through each one by one, fix a few things, make 2 or so more themes for Friendica (not a big deal, just some color replacements), and such. In total we will release 11 services: Peertube, Nextcloud, Friendica, Lufi, Etherpad,LibreQR, FramaDate, Searx, Bibliogram, RSS-Bridge, and Diagrams. These cover a lot. File sharing and hosting, video platform, social network, organizers, search engines, and more. We will release more such services in the near future, but we don't just want to release a lot, we want to release useful ones, and to config and maintain them properly.

So yah, stay tuned. We will release them officially very soon ;). #tromlive

Ok. Lufi also done. I forgot I have to do Framadate too :D - eh...will do tomorrow. After that I am done. But I have to check everything one by one, and fix a few things here and there. But heh, we are getting there. Oh, and I expect for some that I know to troll us a bit and try to upload a lot of crap videos on our peertube and use our friendica for nonsense, and so on. I've already seen that happening and we didn't even officially release. We will keep these services as trade-free, so lets see how we can deal with such situations. Some people in this world area really fucked up. Should we let anyone to upload videos, photos, and whatever, to our platforms? What about flat earth videos, what about posts about killing other people? Well, since these platforms are trade-free, we need not to care about the content, only the service....but hm...it is tricky in today's fucked up world. So after all is set up and done, we will brainstorm about all of this. We certainly don't want to ban or restrict anyone...

Anyways. Just 1 more service to tweak. #tromlive

yah i understand :P - is just that where do you draw the line between curation and censorship. But in can't case, I do not want to curate for this...I curate enough at tromnews.com or videoneat.com, these tools should be tools, and the content is generated by people. So lets see how it plays out, is not like so many will flock to these tools, unfortunately...

Will you be possibly streaming through peertube in the future? I realize you're likely just outputting from OBS to multiple platforms currently but it might be a great stress test....it doesn't require an external service either ;)

Oh yah ofc we will stream on peertube from now on! That's why we moved actually, because we got sick of ytb streaming. And we tested the streaming on our peertube instance and all great. Yes we use OBS. Actualyl as soon as we release this new project of ours, with these trade-free services like peertube, friendica, and the like, we will do a new TROMcast and we will stream on videos.trom.tf ;) - btw I will announce a few days before the cast when we will do it and anyone can join, as usual, so if you'd like you can also join ;) - we use Jitsi Meet for the call and OBS for streaming

I finished theming our libre qr instance. Also, our searx instance - here it is search.trom.tf - I think it looks much cleaner than any of the themes available in searx, especially for the images and videos section. I worked a bit on it. The downside is that if you change the to oscar dark in the preferences, that theme is not good :D - cause I modified the main oscar and idk how to do it for the dark theme....maybe i'll figure out and we will provide 2 themes, dark and light. But if I cannot....then so be it :D.

So all of our TROM videos are uploaded to our PeerTube instance at videos.trom.tf - the instance is kinda done, need to do a few more tweaks to the text and theme, but feel free to test it. We are accepting registrations with unlimited uploads but 2GB per day max, so we don't nuke our server. Feel free to test it ;). None of our services is right now officially released, but we are getting close to that! Oh, and we have over 250 videos, some are big like 2-4 hours long, and in total they take about 135GB. On peertube, with 4 types of conversions enabled - where needed - they take a bit over 170GB. Not bad at all, considering most of our videos are now available in at least 2 formats (HD and FullHD). I will move my personal videos there too + other videos from my blog posts, to tromjaro and such. So far it works super fast and all great. So let us know if you experience any issues wit it ;). #tromlive

Your theme really stands out, I like it. My only complain is the lack of 480p encoding, but your previous instance also didn't had it so. And also your instance is much more faster 😉

BTW, I don't see the peertube hamburger menu on the top left corner (see pic). Is this a theming problem on your site ? 🤔

If we had a lot of storage space I would enable 480p. But we don't...also, 720p seems to be very much ok for today's internet speeds. Plus, internet speeds are getting faster and faster so should be ok I'd say. Sorry about that...

Happy that you like the theme ;). We themed all of our services so that they look and feel the same. However, no testing on mobile...never a priority for me tbh since there are no trade-free operating systems for mobile out there, that are ready for "prime-time". Also, my time is very limited. So it is very possible that the menu doesn't appear on mobile because of the customization I've done....if and when I'll have some free time I may try to adapt our websites for mobile too, but honestly I have a near 0 motivation to do so :D. I am sorry...

Today we kinda moved to our Friendica instance....kinda a lot of work...the contacts import and profiles didn't work that well, had to do much of it manually...but well, it works. Tomorrow I want to create a new theme, greenish like our tromsite.com. And to test more our friendica instance. RSS-Bridge is done btw. So libre qr, searx and lufi need some tweaks. That's all. I am TIRED :D. I dream about websites and servers and all that...I can't even sleep properly. But hey, in a few days I hope all is done. Let's say a week since I have to build a website for this new tromland. And we are still uploading our tromcasts to our peertube, takes some time. We will also replace other videos from tromjaro.com and such, with our peertube ones. More work to do, but the bulk of it is done. Backups work for both servers - daily backups. So that's good. Ok, enough for today. #tromlive
