Originally from RTVE, this documentary deals with Spanish anarchism between 1930-1939; the creation of the CNT and the FAI, and shows the role of culture and education (Modern School); the explosion of ideas and activity that led to the arrival of the Second Republic; the military coup; and at the same time, a revolution (the only one known of anarchist nature), and especially, the development of the collectives. A direct vision of anarchism is offered through the statements of libertarians who actively participated in these changes and whose interventions follow one after the other throughout the documentary. Speakers include: Ramón Álvarez (Councillor for Fisheries in the Council of Asturias and León); María Batet (secretary of Federica Montseny); Federico Arcos (responsible for the archive of Emma Goldman); Antonio Zapata (housing commission of the Generalitat); Miguel Alba (responsible for transport in Barcelona); Severiano Campos (FAI). 'En Portada' estrena 'El increíble caso de Sammy', con motivo del fallecimiento de Sammy Basso el paciente de #progeria más longevo del #mundo.
Sammy tenía 28 años, pero aparentaba 80. Físicamente era un anciano, de poco peso y estatura muy pequeña por culpa de la progeria, una enfermedad que provoca envejecimiento acelerado. Él ha sido el paciente más longevo del mundo con esta enfermedad, porque la esperanza de vida no llega a los 15 años. Falleció el sábado 5 de octubre de 2024. Desde muy niño tuvo claro que le encantaban los laboratorios. Sammy Basso se convirtió en un investigador brillante y decidió estudiar #Biología Molecular para buscar la cura a su propia enfermedad. A ello se dedicaba en la actualidad.
Según contaba al equipo de 'En Portada' que le visitó hace tres meses en su casa de #Italia, era consciente de que cada día podía ser el último, por eso había decidido exprimir la vida al máximo. This is so confusing. There are many free things where you are not "the product". We make many, see tromsite.com and trom.tf.
I wish people would stop saying this about google and the like. There is a simple and to the point way of describing these "free" services. They are TRADE-BASED. You have to trade something to them, in order to use their services.
In the same way that when you go to a supermarket you have to trade your currency for what you grab from it, you have to trade your attention (ads) or data to Google when you go on their platform. Currency, attention, data.

We live in a TRADE-BASED society where pretty much everything is trade-based. Money is just a currency we invented, but trades go without currency as well.
We spent more than a decade trying to shed some light on this confusion.

It is true that most trades translate into "money" in today's society. But increasingly cryptocurrencies are getting more popular. However the focus should be on trade else we lose sight with whats happening online where data ant attention are traded without people realizing it.
The incentive is bad overall, from small to big companies, or individuals. Yes most have to trade to survive, and that is very bad and we should change this situation; it is also true that google and the like are not trading in order to survive, but to thrive in an unequal and ass backwards society.
The entire premise of my original post is that it is not good saying "if it's free, you are the product" since for one it makes it seem like whatever is "free" is not to be trusted, and second it gives google and the like approval for using the word "free" for their trade-based services.
Google is trade-based. Facebook is trade-based.
Nextcloud is trade-free. Friendica is trade-free.
This wording makes a lot more sense.
Capitalism is a manifestation of trade, and ill defined for that matter.
As for "it's not trade if it's coerced" - we are mostly coerced to trade nowadays. Want food? Trade your time, energy, skills to someone else, get a currency, go trade it for food. Food is essential yet you have to trade for it, you have no other choice. And so it goes for pretty much anything.
Trade is an exchange, voluntarily or not.
if you didn't trade consensually, then you were coerced, and that's not trade, that's stealing.
a form of trade exists in capitalism, but trade is not the same thing as capitalism.
all employment under capitalism is coerced, if the choice is between "work or die".
You run a business selling food, you have little choice, you have to pay your rent. I need food. I work, make money, then buy food from you. We were both coerced into this game, now who is stealing from who in his situation?

El hombre y la Tierra es una serie televisiva sobre naturaleza, producida por Televisión Española y dirigida por el naturalista Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente. Fue emitida desde el 4 de marzo de 1974 hasta el 20 de junio de 1981 ―y repuesta desde el 12 de marzo de 2009 hasta el 24 de septiembre de 2012―.
Esta serie es una obra de referencia para documentales sobre naturaleza tanto en España como en el extranjero, ya que la serie se distribuyó por varios países. En su tiempo, inauguró una nueva forma de documentación.
Se divide en tres bloques: la Serie Venezolana, rodada en Venezuela; la Serie Fauna Ibérica, rodada en España; y la Serie Canadiense, rodada en Canadá y Alaska. Son 124 episodios en total.

He was like the Spanish Attenboroguh back then, with a very peculiar and refined way of talking that made him very popular. He and his team were quite innovative in terms of making documentaries back in the seventies and presumably wil have inspired others later, like the bbc.

Intento de Golpe en Bolivia (por el Litio que quiere EEUU)
El video reporta un nuevo intento de golpe de estado en Bolivia, liderado por el entonces comandante general del ejército, Juan José Zúñiga. Los militares irrumpieron en la Plaza Murillo de La Paz, buscando tomar el Palacio Presidencial y el control del gobierno. This is a part of our history and identity that has been hidden to us, the ones who feel the opression of the system on a daily basis.
I was at awe listenning to the people that appear in the documentary and that probably are all dead today, but who really lived the anarchist revolution until their genocide.
For me it is just astonishing how well can express themselves compared to most people of their age and economic class today here in Spain, (since they could not get access to any good education when the fascist dictatorship).
I would be able to communicate more with my grandma today if she had been raised like that. But she just understands hierachical power, money and religion. No science, no critical thinking. I love her anyway, but I have to use Christ analogies to have her attention :)
